|Carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of onsite building maintenance, both internal and external.
The role includes general building DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling and flooring and painting and decorating.
The role also requires you to carry out general garden maintenance work involved in all aspects of maintaining a well cared for garden area. Tasks will include planning, planting out, growing plants from seed, purchasing plants, managing pests and keeping the area generally well maintained.
This will also include regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with Line Manager and other team members, performing jobs as and when they are required.
Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities
|Day to day responsibilities
– installation inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings
– general plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, installing new sinks, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC)
– general carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, architraves, window frames, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware
– general tiling – floors and walls
– flooring work, such as carpet tiles
– general painting & decorating
– basic electrical maintenance
– day to day care and maintenance of gardens and hedging
– day to day care and maintenance of hedging
– day to day care and maintenance of the garden buildings
– regularly inspecting garden structures and undertaking minor repairs or advising Line Manager of any need to replace/rebuild
– general garden carpentry such as assembling and maintaining furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware
– identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety
– liaising with Line Manager and other team members and performing jobs as and when they are required
– carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract requirements
– carry out tasks within specified time limits
– ensure compliance to applicable codes, legislation and procedures including health and safety
– maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work
– report to Line Manager
– immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager
– meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole
– contribute towards the efficient running of the team
– adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.
You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally.
|Your usual hours will be from 8am to 4pm. However you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.
Insert following if applicable Your job will involve travel to sites within the agreed area. The agreed area is insert e.g. 20 mile radius, county etc

You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with any training provided, the organisation’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable, any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment you use is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.
Essential Abilities/ Competencies of this job role
– to have achieved the qualifications insert as applicable e.g. Construction Maintenance Operations NVQ Level 2
– to hold the following additional certificates insert as applicable
– experience in this type of job role – insert as applicable e.g. minimum 2 years
– requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment
– to demonstrate knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this role
– skills in general DIY and maintenance and general gardening including assessment, installation, repair and maintenance
– practical knowledge of plants plus experience and using general garden machinery
– to be friendly and approachable
– to understand and deliver good customer service
– good attention to detail
– demonstrable time management and project management skills
– a full driving licence

The nature of your role will require you to travel within the area that your team covers. However, from time to time you may be expected to travel outside that area as the job role requires.
