Core Objectives

The overall raising of standards, development, performance, monitoring and maintenance of standards in the agreed subject areas to meet agreed targets.

 

Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities 

 

 

Overall Responsibility to  

– strategy, raising standards and managing the allocated subject areas

– securing an appropriate and effective subject curriculum to meet the requirements of the national curriculum, Examination Board syllabus and the school

– promoting the use of teaching and learning processes that will enable students to achieve

– setting challenging targets which teachers and students understand and must adhere to and ensuring that results are achieved

– achieving best possible standards and results

– ensuring that the team understands that the organisation’s profits and achievements are reflected in all its operations and activities– including relationships and risk management

– manage required resources and maintain budgetary control

– meet your targets and contribute towards those of the school as a whole

– the smooth running of the allocated subject areas

– contribute to training and development of the agreed subject areas

– maintain overall responsibility for performing all duties in compliance with related legal/statutory, reguations, professional duties, responsibilities and obligations  and insert as applicable e.g. national and Examination Board syllabus requirements

 

Day to day responsibilities agreed with your manager to include:

–  direct, manage and monitor teaching practice, coursework, internal examinations, moderation and teacher assessment in the agreed subject areas

– developing plans for activities in the agreed subject areas to include strategy to achieve agreed targets

– manage, direct, supervise and monitor the overall performance of the teaching practice

– effective liaison, support and assistance, including performance assessment review with the teachers and students to ensure targets are met

– maintain and improve  results and activities relating to the agreed subject areas, including surveying and measuring progress, process, outcomes and results  and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities

– utilise agreed systems to manage analysis and documenting

– direct the development of plans for the agreed subject areas to include management to achieve targets

– support to all other departments with related issues

– reporting (content and format as agreed) on a monthly basis or as otherwise required

– assist in the development and preparation of the strategy and general business planning of the school as a whole.

– set an example of commitment, activities, work ethics and habits and personal character

– maintain accurate records

– responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed  budgetary controls

– adhere to all school policies and procedures

– work with parents and governors to maximise their involvement and the development of resources for it

– adhere to and promote all school values, policies and procedures

– maintain your professional development and maintain currency with the curriculum and current educational thinking and practice by personal study and attendance at courses, workshops, meetings and reviews

 

From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.

You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally.

Hours

Your usual hours will be from 9am to 5pm. However you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.

The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.

Equipment

You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role and to your team. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, the entire organisation’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment used by the team is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.

Essential Abilities/ Competencies of this job role

You need

– qualifications sufficient to perform the job role – insert as applicable

– languages required – insert as applicable e.g.  English, French

– experience in this type of job role – insert as applicable e.g.  minimum 5 years

– understanding of and experience in adhering to national and Examination Board syllabus requirements

– thorough understanding of curriculum  management, requirements and dynamics – insert specific as applicable

– ability in curriculum  management and associated relationship management

– leadership with ability to manage and motivate a team

– excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational, observation and communication skills

– to have proven ability to coach and develop others

– to be motivated and dedicated to your vocation

– a high degree of integrity and honesty in all dealings

– excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

– ability to work under pressure

– full driving licence
