Core Objectives

Part of a team operating machinery, tools and equipment for manufacture and assembly of components/products, performing the prescribed tasks to meet applicable safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines and to maximise productivity and profitability


Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities  



Day to day responsibilities

understand plans (guidelines, blueprints drawings etc) and requirements for each task

– generally organise and prepare required materials/supplies/parts and machinery, tools and equipment, liaising with appropriate parties

– set up, operate, monitor and maintain equipment in accordance with appropriate guidelines

– manufacture components allocated to you  

– manufacture to prescribed quality, efficiency and in accordance with instructions, specifications, controls and plans

– inspect, measure, examine, and test completed components for conformance and to detect defects

– diagnose and resolve malfunctions/problems within agreed criteria or refer to Line Manager as appropriate

– measure, examine, and test completed components for conformance and to detect defects

– as required,  inspect machinery, tools and equipment for usability and report concerns to Line Manager

identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes, law, working practices and health and safety

– clean and maintain all machinery, tools and equipment and maintain a clean working area

– carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract requirements

— carry out tasks to meet applicable safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines and to maximise productivity and profitability

– carry out tasks within prescribed time limits

– help minimise downtime and wastage

– assist team members on  projects to ensure efficient operations and to ensure targets are met

– assist with relevant costing/supply/budgets

– effectively liaise and communicate and maintain a good relationship with team members,  contractor/suppliers and other stakeholders as required

– maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work

– report to Line Manager

– immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager

– meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole

– contribute towards the efficient running of the team

– responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls

– adhere to all organisation policies and procedures

– ensure compliance with health and safety and all related legal/statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes,  professional duties, responsibilities and obligations and insert as applicable

– set an example for team members of commitment, work ethics and habits and personal character


From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.

You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally.


Your usual hours will be from 8am to 4pm. However you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.


In view of  the nature of the job you may be required to perform shift work (such as 12 Hour shifts including days, nights and weekends on a rota basis) and you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.

Insert following if applicable Your job will involve travel to sites within the agreed area. The agreed area is insert e.g. 20 mile radius, county etc

The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.


You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues, the Organisation and its clients/customers. You must obey all lawful and reasonable orders given to you and comply with the Organisation’s rules, procedures and policies

You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, all of the organisation’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable, any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment you use is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.

You need

You may be expected to work in accordance with the organisation’s overtime policies

The nature of your role will require you to travel within the area that your team covers. However, from time to time you may be expected to travel outside that area as the job role requires.


Salary level C – 25,000 or insert £ per hour
