Core Objectives

Part of a team who has responsibility for accurately estimating costs of jobs/projects to meet agreed safety, targets, criteria and deadlines and to maximise productivity and profitability.

 

Estimates will require consideration of materials, manufacture/fabrication, labour/work including any development costs (such as to fabricate new components). Estimates will include changes/repairs of partially fabricated components resulting from specification revisions

 

Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities  

 

 

Day to day responsibilities as agreed with the Line Manager to include:

– understand plans and requirements for each task and review data/paperwork etc  

– carry out initial analysis of projects/jobs

– estimating and calculating manufacture/fabrication, labour/work, materials/supplies and working with purchasing on consumable pricing estimation and availability

– consideration of any special equipment required

– review and analyse charged working hours to existing and completed jobs to ensure current/future performance and quoting standards are aligned

– prepare quotes, including those which incorporate subcontract work.

– maintain and update quoting standards

– revise estimates with specifications/job changes etc

– work with team members to develop plans and procedures for new orders

– tasks and estimates must be carried out in accordance with contract requirements, within prescribed time limits, to meet safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines and to maximise productivity and profitability

help to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment to ensure compliance with applicable codes, law, working practices and health and safety

– help minimise downtime and wastage

– assist team members on  projects to ensure efficient operations and to ensure targets are met

– effectively liaise and communicate and maintain a good relationship with team members,  contractors/suppliers and other stakeholders as required

– maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work

– attend meeting as and when required

– report to Line Manager

– immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager

– meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole

– contribute towards the efficient running of the team

– responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls

– adhere to all organisation policies and procedures

– ensure compliance with health and safety and all related legal/statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes,  professional duties, responsibilities and obligations and insert as applicable

– set an example for team members of commitment, knowledge and expertise, work ethics and habits and personal character

 

From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role even where these fall outside of your own department/team.

You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally.

Hours

Your usual hours will be from 8am to 4pm. However you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.

OR

In view of  the nature of the job you may be required to perform shift work (such as 12 Hour shifts including days, nights and weekends on a rota basis) and you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.

The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.

Equipment

You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role and to your team. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided, the organisation’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment used by the team is maintained and can be used/operated at all times.

Essential Abilities/ Competencies of this job role

You need

– qualifications sufficient to perform the job role – insert as applicable

– to hold the following insert as applicable

– experience  in this type of job role – insert as applicable e.g. minimum 5 years

– requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the  environment

– proven skills in using insert as applicable e.g. Aspen Capital Cost Estimator and MS Excel

– proven ability to work as a member of a team

– demonstrable deadline/time management and task management skills

– high degree of integrity and honesty in all dealings

– to be friendly and approachable

– to understand and deliver good customer service

– excellent attention to detail

– ability to work under pressure

– full driving licence
