Skills Provision is searching for a Research and Development Chef (Pastries) for a prosperous catering business in Malta.

Since its inception, over 30 years ago, the company has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of Malta’s most prominent organisations.

Position: Research and Development Chef

Sector: Catering

Location: Zejtun, Malta

Position: 1-year contract (extendable)




€80,000 p/a (negotiable based on experience)

For this role, the company is looking for an individual who can lead the Research and Development department, in the creation of products, meeting shelf-life requirements and, of course, excellent taste.

The main frozen production lines engaged in are, namely:

  • Filled Pasta and Pastry
  • Ready-Made Meals
  • Cream/Dry Cakes, and Muffins

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering information on new products
  • Creating new recipes and product formulas
  • Establishing product specifications and documentation
  • Reviewing recipe formulas for mass production
  • Suggesting changes to production processes



  • 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role
  • Degree in Food Science or similar would be welcomed
  • Knowledge and experience in both savoury and sweet products
  • Good food science and nutritional understanding
  • Excellent command of the English language (oral and written)
  • Good leadership qualities
  • Strong people skills
  • Creative flair
