The Role

The Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction on matters relating to occupational health and safety, quality management, environmental management, and corporate social responsibility. As the most senior member of the SHEQ team you will be responsible for managing and developing resources in related areas. A member of the Operations Board, you’ll also work with other business leaders to ensure that an understanding of, and commitment to, SHEQ strategy exists across the Group.

 

Requirements

You will hold a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and will ideally be a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) or have another relevant Chartered qualification (e.g. from Institution of Civil Engineers, etc). Holding a relevant environmental management qualification would be useful whilst demonstrable experience as a health and safety practitioner with a comprehensive understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental best practice, legislation and industry standards is essential. You will need to show a demonstrable understanding of quality and environmental standards, systems and procedures, including evidence of having managed quality systems in the past whilst knowledge of the construction / consulting / support services sector is highly desirable. Knowledge of information security systems and integrated management systems would also be an advantage.
