Applications Engineer needed in New York, United States

Skills Provision are searching for an experienced Applications Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing system designs and adaptations to the Storage Solutions product family. The Applications Engineer will work closely with Systems Engineers, Field Engineers and the Testing Department.

The Role

• Provide expertise on implementation details relating to file systems and storage subsystems.
• Provides technical leadership for diagnosing and debugging
• Provides design leadership to the team for new feature implementation and integration opportunities. Acts as the department’s expert.
• Research and evaluate alternative approaches for solution development
• Build collaborative relationships between multiple organisations.
• Support multiple internal teams with guidelines on troubleshooting and solving issues.
• Drive root cause analysis of issues.
• Install instrumented debug software at customer site to troubleshoot issues.
• Interface with vendors and suppliers to clearly describe customer issues.
• Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred
• Proven experience in files system development
• Clear understanding of server systems
• Clear understanding of enclosure management and its interfaces
• Comprehensive understanding of storage software concepts
• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret technical journals, and engineering specifications
• Demonstrated abilities to debug and lead investigations of issues to closure
• Customer relation skill capabilities
• Problem-solving
• Analysing and interpreting data
• Communicating / interpreting customer issues with technical team
• Creating written documentation – product specifications, white papers
