• Provision or repair of communication services / network to end users on behalf of Communication Providers (CP’s) meeting contractual obligations in a professional and cost effective manner.

• To undertake copper jointing and /or optical fibre cable splicing and blowing in the Openreach network and end user / CP’s premises.

• To work in Openreach’s network to agreed quality standards.

• To inform line management or Control as appropriate of any reasons for lateness, failure to report, or withdrawal from duty.

• To carry out work appropriate to the role and training as directed by line manager in an efficient and courteous manner.

• Maintain high quality of workmanship standards whilst being as efficient and cost effective as possible.

• Delivery of own work within timescales and commitment time.

• Comply with required booking practices, e.g. accurate time allocation and use of the correct product codes.

• Ensure all work is carried out to the satisfaction of end user / CP. Check their requirements and when appropriate ensure test result is recorded via relevant control.

• To maximise performance and business delivery in line with team objectives and individual contribution.

• To deliver effective and timely service delivery in line with RFT practices and behaviours.

Communications Systems Operator (January 2005 to July 2012)
British Army
• Trained to setup, maintain and operate secure digital radio systems, satellite communications and wide-area computer networks.

• Served in Iraq, Kuwait (July 07 – Jan 08) – Worked as part of a small multi-national team coordinating Air Logistics and Casualty Evacuation utilising secure satellite, radio voice and data systems to ensure maximum efficiency of available helicopter resources.

• Served in Afghanistan (Mar 09 – Oct 09) – Worked as part of a small multi-national team liaising between British and Danish Forces on the ground, imparting vital tactical information between Headquarters and ground troops using secure tactical satellite radio systems. Required to maintain radio systems as appropriate utilising limited available resources.

• Taught numerous Helicopter Handling Courses to various Armed Forces personnel using self-generated material.

• Implemented tactical and technical communication methods to all H.M Forces and other National Bodies.
