In March 2014 I was appointed as Business Director: Tanzania & Uganda taking up the overall leadership role, with full strategic, operational and financial responsibility for the DHL Supply Chain businesses in both Tanzania and Uganda.

In late 2005 Exel was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL, during which time I was appointed Country Manager: Tanzania with full operational and financial responsibility for the DHL Supply Chain operations in Tanzania. Since my arrival, budgeted to make a loss in 2006, the business has grown to a multi-million Euro position with consistently high profitability levels of 12% to 15% of Revenue. In addition to this, under my leadership the Tanzania business boasts exceptional Employee Opinion Survey results 2010, 2011 and 2012, with best in region result scores and averaging over 90% across the KPI dash-board.

Country Manager (Jan 2005 – Dec 2005)

During this time period Exel acquired Tibbett and Britten and in this new organization I took up the country leadership role for the Contract Logistics and Freight Management activities of Exel in Zimbabwe.
In addition to managing the existing ELT account and Exel tobacco operations in Zimbabwe and into Angola, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, my mandate included driving business development and targeting entry into other sectors of interest, prior to my departure from Zimbabwe.

As Contract Manager of the Tibbett & Britten (T&B) and Export Leaf Tobacco (ELT) Zimbabwe (an affiliate of British American Tobacco) contract, my responsibilities encompassed all operational and P&L control and the day to day management of all customer, staff and resource activity associated with the contract during the challenging socio and economic environment of Zimbabwe at that time, in the most severely hit sector – the agriculture sector.

BAT Contract Manager (Jan 2000 – Jun 2002)

As Contract Manager of the T&B and British American Tobacco Uganda contract my responsibilities encompassed all operational and P&L control and the day to day management of all customer, staff and resource activity associated with the contract.
Operations included the transportation of 20,000 tons of raw leaf tobacco, from 4 main growing areas within Uganda to the T&B warehouses in Kampala, the shuttling and storage of raw and processed tobacco between the processing factory and warehouses, the transportation of 3,500 tons of raw tobacco from eastern DRC to BAT Thika Kenya for processing and the shipment of 17,000 tons of packed tobacco, to overseas customers via Mombasa. I was also responsible for T&Bs management of domestic distribution of cigarettes, from the BAT Jinja factory in Uganda.
