The Cross Rail programme is a mega-scale, USD16 billion UK rail infrastructure project. Bechtel is the Development Manager, providing the project management services to the Department of Transport and Transport for London. As PFE for the ‘surface works’ I am responsible for Construction Assurance for USD2.4 Billion of work scope, I report to the Principal Construction Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
• Acting Deputy to the Principal Construction Manager
• Coordinating and leading the review of Contractor works programs.
• ensuring non-conformances are identified by the Construction Team.
• Coordinating Engineering response to Contractor queries (Field Changes, TQ’s, Non conformances)
• Ensuring Field Engineers attend project critical Hold or Witness points.

The Khalifa Port & Industrial Zone (KPIZ) was a mega-scale, USD7 billion project. Bechtel provided Program Management Consultant services for the Port and Industrial Zone development. As Resident Engineer I was responsible for the delivery of a USD25 million Design and Build Contract for a Sewage Treatment Plant (capacity 6500m3/day), I reported to the Area Delivery Manager.
Key responsibilities included:
• Management of ES&H and Quality performance of the Contractor.
• Chairing weekly Progress, ES&H, Quality and Interface meetings.
• Providing technical direction, acceptance of site works.
• Evaluating Progress.
• Analysing work activities to understand scope, time and manpower requirements required by the contractor.

As Site Manager I was responsible for the delivery of USD8 million cost reimbursable contract to remove project enabling works; I reported to the Project Manager.

• Monitoring and management of Contractor schedule performance.
• Chairing weekly and monthly meetings.
• Review and acceptance contractor invoices.
• Close liaison and coordination with public land agents and local residents.

I was responsible for the delivery of USD25 million Fixed Price, Lump Sum contract to upgrade 17miles of line side civil infrastructure; I reported to the Construction Manager. Work scope included signal post/gantries, troughing, support structures for power and signaling equipment.

I was responsible for the field delivery of USD16 million major railway viaduct and bridge demolition/reconstruction works during rail blockades; I reported to the contract Site Manager. Work Scope included bulk excavation, insitu reinforced concrete, pre-cast concrete contiguous bored piles, grouted ground anchors and track drainage.

• Review and critique Contractor possession plans.
• Establish, monitor and report progress for key construction commodities.
• Field monitoring of contractor Safety and Quality performance to Employer standards.

I was responsible for the delivery of USD12 million Lump Sum contract to demolish and reconstruct a railway over bridge, to deliver the four track rail envelope; I reported to the Area Delivery Manager. Work scope included earthworks, track drainage, insitu RC retaining walls, bridge demolition and reconstruction works, large diameter bored piles, abutment and wing wall construction, highway drainage, road pavement, temporary traffic management, OHLE modifications, grouted ground anchors, sheet piling.

Work scope included: establishment of borrow pits, rail embankments and cuttings, track drainage, Culvert extensions, infrastructure abandonment.
