University of Massachusetts Amherst Facilities Management

I am responsible for monitoring the Student Center on campus. My duties include securing meeting rooms after meetings finish as well as securing the building at the end of each day. I am charged with escorting cash deposits to the main cashier’s office. Other responsibilities include handling issues throughout the building or problems in the UMass Hotel. In the absence of my superior, scheduling and handling of day-to-day operations becomes a primary responsibility.

I was responsible for interpreting plans and erecting fencing, pergolas, trellises, arbors, etc. Working well as part of a team was essential to meeting deadlines for customers. I was also required to interpret and utilize engineering plans to erect each job. In order to complete each job accurately I was tasked with measuring site lines and slopes using string lines and a transit. As part of my employment I acquired skills in woodworking and general construction practices.
