Silchester Garages, London, W10 6TZ
1st December 2014 – January 2015

Employed on the project as a Plumber, completing 1st & 2nd fit work.

Silchester is one of several new build schemes being developed by Peabody. This development includes the demolition of the existing garages, day centre and estate office and the construction of 112 new mixed tenure residential units. In addition to the housing there will be a new retail unit, a community facility and a community hub.

Mace is the main contractor on the project, the first phase of which is due to complete in summer 2014. The project will be built in two phases.

The form of the building is a traditional RC frame with a masonry façade and punched in composite windows. The building is to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 and as such has extensive photovoltaic panels on the roof in combination with further areas of green and brown roofing.

At the time of construction commencing on site the building has been shortlisted for a New London Architecture Award. It is anticipated between Peabody and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea that the Silchester project will be a benchmark for the future regeneration of the North Kensington residential social housing area.

Charing Cross Hospital, London W6
August 2014 – October 2014

Employed as a Mechanical Engineer, working in the plant room with responsibility for a small team of engineers. Charing Cross is a general acute hospital that provides a full range of adult clinical specialties. It is also a key site for the teaching of medical students from Imperial College London. The hospital is due to undergo a major site inspection in November 2014 and therefore all plant and water facilities need to be upgraded ready for inspection.

This role has given me the opportunity to expand my plumbing experience and take on a more industrial & supervisory role, therefore giving me a further opportunity to learn and expand my plumbing knowledge and leadership skills outside the area of domestic plumbing.

Mead Building Services
December 2013 – August 2014

The London Borough of Ealing contract was awarded to Mead Building Services (MBS) in December 2013 and as a consequence, under a TUPE agreement my employment was transferred to them as I cover this contract.

As a fully qualified plumber, my role is to provide full maintenance of properties for Housing Associations, adaptations and changes to properties, refurbishments to bathrooms and kitchens and provide a service to sheltered homes and vulnerable tenants. My job involves repairing sanitation systems and emergency repairs. I am also fully experienced in fitting domestic appliances and the installation of complete bathrooms. I work on domestic drainage systems, ensuring they meet local and national regulations.

I am on a rota to work on an emergency call out 24/7 basis, where I have to quickly assess a situation and make the necessary repairs or once I have diagnosed the problem, enlist the collaboration of other disciplines, i.e. carpenters, decorators etc. to assist with the urgent repair work.

The Mears Group/Morrison Plc.
February 2010 – December 2013

Successfully completed a Plumbing Apprenticeship with the Mears Group and then as part of a TUPE agreement moved to Morrison Plc.

Morrison specialise in providing facilities services to private businesses and central and local government bodies. The core area of the business is the repair and maintenance of social housing. Morrison is responsible for the maintenance of more than 400,000 properties in the UK.

During my apprenticeship I was responsible for all domestic plumbing duties as part of a 2-man multi-trade team, undertaking bathroom and kitchen plumbing, fitting and remedial work. Once qualified, I was given responsibility for a company vehicle and my own daily run sheets and calls to complete for the London Borough of Ealing contract. I continue to undertake all plumbing & fitting jobs, along with other multi-trade tasks as required on the calls. I also have experience in drainage clearance.

During my time with The Mears Group I also Project Managed a complete garage conversion, working from architects drawings and complying with London Borough of Ealing planning regulations, along with statutory compliance regulations. The garage space was converted into a studio apartment, with kitchenette and separate bathroom, own private front entrance and exit into courtyard garden.

Prestige Bathrooms
September 2009

I worked for Prestige Bathrooms, who have large showrooms with both contemporary and designer displays in Perivale, for 4 days a week in support of my City & Guilds Plumbing Apprenticeship. This involved me supervising bathroom and kitchen refits and using my own plumbing skills to carry out bathroom fitting and general domestic plumbing jobs. I also undertook tiling work in the Prestige showroom for their bathroom displays. Prestige is considered West London’s leading bathroom, tile and wellbeing product supplier with over 15 years’ experience.

The Mears Group
May 2008
I completed two weeks work experience with The Mears Group in May 2008, working out of their Hayes depot. During this time I work-shadowed a Mears employee and carried out general building and construction duties in the local area, putting the skills I had learnt at EDEC into practice.

Ambitions:

I am self-motivated and happy to work on my own, with full accountability and responsibility for the work I undertake, however, I am equally as happy working as part of a team and contributing to its success. I would welcome the opportunity for further on the job training. I am hard working and reliable and enjoy learning new things. I have recently self-funded and attained my SMSTS Certificate and hope that this demonstrates my commitment and desire to develop and gain more experience and take on more responsibility in my plumbing career.

I want to continue to utilise and develop the plumbing & multi-trade skills I have gained and enjoy challenges that offer me the opportunity for more professional and personal development.
