Short Bio:

An experienced landscape contractor with over 10 years experience in both private and commercial sectors. Relocated from Edinburgh to Inverness on 2010 and, by chance, entered into large civils projects as a general labourer. Obtained all my own plant operators tickets at my own expense. Have in depth knowledge of groundworks, concrete, hydro tunelling, electrical pylons and recently onshore wind turbines. Last year was promoted to a Works Foreman with large civils company. Seeking to progress further and expand my knowledge also.

Employment Details

June 2013 – to date – Jones Bros Civil Engineering; Works Foreman. Responsible for overseeing various construction works at Loch Luichart Wind Farm in the North West Scottish Highlands.

January – June 2013 – Plant Operation and Ground Works for Morrison Construction at the Forres Flood Alleviation Project in Forres, Morayshire. Sub contracted through agency.

August – December 2012 – 360 Excavator Operator contracted to Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering on mini piling for new pylon foundations on the Beauly to Denny project on behalf of Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE). Sub contracted through agency.

May 2011 – August 2012 – General Civil Engineering Operative for BAM Nuttal at the Glendoe Hydro Recovery Project. Working for BAM on behalf of SSE in the repair of a collapsed tunnel section at Glendoe Hydro Scheme. Main duties were plant operation, concrete and shotcrete operations, installation and removal of services, concrete testing, traffic marshalling and providing operational support to trades teams involved in strengthening tunnel weak points. Being fully compliant with SSE’s strict health and safety policy.

October 2002 – May 2011 – Self Employed Landscape Contractor. Started and ran Edinburgh Garden Care employing up six people on a full time basis. Installing pre designed landscaped gardens and providing grounds maintenance services to both private and commercial premises.

August 2001 – October 2002 – Stonemasons Labourer working for WJR Watson Stonecraft. Worked on several high profile Edinburgh projects including Harvey Nichols store and new RBS HQ.
