Responsible for tracking sea shipments and executing road freight transport coordination between various service providers to ensure organized and timely delivery of goods to customers within specified Key Performance Indicators.

Key Contributions:

• In-charge of overall road freight transportation to clients based on the East & Central African region handling truck load plans of up to 250 truckloads per week.

• Acquired responsibility on truck allocation, coordination and cost-effective load planning as part of the supply chain of mining cargo including out-of-gauge break-bulk for mines based in Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo, including one of the largest mining projects in Africa – Kibali Gold Mines, DRC.

• Developed system solutions and logistic planning spreadsheets that enabled management to view loading and dispatch target achievements of 90% of mining cargo within 72hrs of vessel discharge, thereby significantly improving customer service delivery.

• Adopted best industrial practices to identify new and unique strategies to drive customer satisfaction involving inspection of sensitive cargo receive by sea and advising all relevant parties the use of specialized soft suspension trailers to avoid cargo damage.

• Participated on weekly conference calls with mining clients and enabled customer feedback through various channels to improve the supply chain management.

• Managed internal communications and presentations in form of weekly reports with regards to core performance metrics.

• Monitored potential risks with the movement of hazardous / out-of-gauge breakbulk cargo that required immediate risk management solutions.

• Performed market intelligence in the region to identify and be aware of the volumes and nature of cargo handled by competitors and sourcing cost-effective suppliers to maintain the company’s position as the market leader in the East African freight industry.
