ENI NORGE -GOLIAT FPSO. KOREA/NORWAY
NSTRUMENT AND CONTROLS ENGINEER

The GOLIAT FPSO is built and equipped to meet the highest international standards linked to strict in-built safety adapted to arctic climatic conditions. Currently in final phases of commissioning, with start-up and first oil scheduled for Q1 2016, this will be the first oil field to come on stream in the Barents Sea, and is the world’s most northerly offshore development, located in one of the harshest environments.

Relocated in early 2015 to Hammerfest Norway, to where FPSO was transported from Korea. Role changed to Offshore Instrumentation and Controls Coordinator, and currently actively supports the Company and vendors’ workforce during the commissioning completion. Duties include:

• Project control progress tracking, utilising Statoil’s completion software system “ProCoSys” to ensure compliance with schedule, budget, quality and HSE parameters.

• Supervision, guidance and dynamic support to E + I + C hook-up and start- up teams.

• Supervision of all punch-list teams, and issuance of Safe Systems work permits

Initially resident in Korea, assigned to the Client Project Management Team, duties included:

• Accountable for overseeing the integrated project team comprising of EPC contractor Hyundai and vendors ABB, during the design and construction engineering of all Instrumentation and Controls systems, automated safety and emergency shutdown systems and Fire and Gas nodes.

• Supervised process logic software and hardware verification.

• Reviewed and approved E + I engineering design changes.

• Witnessed and validated safety automation systems testing.

• Verified start-up and commissioning procedures for all process and logic control, fire and gas and emergency shut-down systems.

BP SHAH DENIZ FIELD, CASPIAN SEA
CONTROLS AND AUTOMATION ENGINEER

The Shah Deniz (SD) field was discovered in 1999 and is one of the world’s largest gas condensate fields, with 40 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Latterly resident in Baku, promoted to a lead role, in supporting the integrated control and safety, fire and gas, emergency shut-down and process control systems, duties included:

• Reviewed all engineering queries and job packs relating to design and systems modifications to ensure compliance with procedures and approved technical practices.

• Managed platform alarm reduction and rationalisation strategy.

• Supported Caspian healthcare development for 3rd party control systems.

• Appointed Continuous Improvement Champion supporting the offshore platform.

• Undertook responsibility for the coaching of Azeri nationals as part of the Succession plan.

• Developed, and maintained the integrity of the platform Integrated Control and Safety Systems.

Initially contracted in an offshore rotational role, from commissioning, through start-up into operations.

Over the period, held continued and increased responsibility for:

• Design, engineering, and planning of platform major system upgrades and modifications.

• Managed the day to day activities of ICSS maintenance, modifications and operational support.

• Appointed the Offshore Technical Authority for E + I systems (Allen Bradley PLC & Modicon TSX).

• Created/checked construction work packs and managed change documentation using BP emoc procedures. Undertook design reviews.

• Managed vendor engineers offshore to ensure all changes were captured and in line with BP management of change documents.

• Performed PA & IA duties in line with Safe Systems of Work.

ABB / BP, SHAH DENIZ FIELD
LEAD COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

The Shah Deniz field is one of the world’s largest gas condensate production reservoirs to commission all the control systems leading to production in 2006.

As Lead Engineer, seconded from ABB to their client BP, was responsible for guiding and managing a team of engineers and technicians during the following activities, all which were successfully completed to meet the gas production start-up target date:

• Commissioned the integrated controls safety systems (ICSS) and interfaces to 3rd party system.

• Control of all technical questions, variation requests and modifications generated by both projects and operations. Verified all hardware and software requests.

• Planned all modifications and estimating engineering man hours.

• Maintained document control to BP standards and procedures.

• Approved and sign off of commissioning procedures, and handover to BP operations.
