Chief Mechanic GSF Magellan (Nigeria) & Development Driller 1 & 2 (Angola / Romania)

Working as a Chief Mechanic on Semi-Submersibles & High spec Jack-up rigs, responsible for the planned maintenance, repairs and servicing of all of the equipment on drilling rigs in West Africa & Black Sea. Chief Mechanic for a team 8+ mechanics/motormen. Duties included: Perform daily inspection and maintenance on mechanical equipment; organize and promote the preventive maintenance system, maintain and repair power plant and power distribution ensure power is available at all time. Troubleshoot and repair faults on mechanical; hydraulic and pneumatic equipment .Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts in order to fulfil maintenance requirements and facilitate efficient operation. Supply information to assist in the development of maintenance and repair budget, ensure that service; maintenance and other operational reports are accurate and complete. Provide rig manager with maintenance statistics, and ensure regulatory requirements for environmental protection are complied with. Ensure that all junior staff have the necessary skills and experience to fulfil their assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level. Prepare annual performance appraisal for all subordinates.

Working offshore and onshore on a number of heavy duty engines carrying out various major repairs, fault diagnosis, overhauls and periodic maintenance on a vast and varied range of compressors, fire pumps and generator engines. Based in Dubai but worked on a rotation system all over the Middle East and Asia, previous projects include a high profile assignment on an oil platform in the Caspian Sea. The sole Mechanical Technician responsible the repair and maintenance of the platform primary power supply for the 12 month commissioning period. Lead Mechanical Technician for a site of 36 generators (1,200 KVA) in Karachi Pakistan providing back up to the city’s power supply. First point of contact for the customer, compiling daily and weekly reports for senior personnel.

Working as a Mechanic after completing 3 years in depth training on vehicle mechanics & engineering to qualify in City & Guilds levels 1, 2 & 3 Heavy & Light Motor Vehicle Studies alongside various other relevant qualifications.
