Work Experience

• November 2013 – Present, Company Director

Since my contract ended with the NHS my initial plan to have time off was cut short when contacts that I have established approached me for some special projects.

I used the opportunity to establish a small business as a technical exercise and formed a Limited company.

Although this is not within the area I currently wish to work the experience has been a brilliant learning curve. The company now runs and turns over a small profit.

• August 2012 – November 2013, NUH NHS Trust, Project Lead

Having worked within the diabetes unit I have taken the knowledge developed over 2 years and with the assistance of the diabetes specialist nurses and better for you I am producing a series of educational films for Trust employees to help achieve CQUIN targets, primarily to reduce the average length of stay, prevent insulin errors and achieve over 80% compliance overall.

The main aim of the project from a diabetes perspective is to ensure that all clinical staff have easy access to information, including current updates and relevant information especially during out of hours periods where specialist advice is limited such as weekends to shorten the amount of time patients spend in hospital.

The goal for the trust is to help make Nottingham University Hospitals the best acute hospital in the UK by 2016.

• June 2010 – Present, NUH NHS Trust , Diabetic Registry Coordinator

Initially starting in the outpatients department I moved across to Diabetic Medicine, working as part of a team liaising with consultants, nurses, senior management and admin staff. Responsibilities included maintaining the diabetic registry, ensuring coordination of work activity and general day to day operations reporting directly to the Directorate administration manager as well as working closely with the DIRC Matron.

I developed my role into one which allowed me to be as efficient as possible with my time. This became especially important when several colleagues were off simultaneously for an extended period of time and I was relied upon to provide cover for them on my own.

Whilst ensuring that all urgent administrative needs were met my responsibilities also included communication analysis & delegation, Datix incident reporting (Administrative & Clinical on behalf on the nursing team), designing and developing control systems, diabetic registry management, diamond programme super user, external agency liaison, external business point of contact, information technology co-ordinator, Integra procurement / arranging non-stock requisitions, logistics, Medway Pas Super-user, multi-disciplinary team liaison, procurement and stock recycling, production & editing of literature, quality assurance, triaging incoming communications, troubleshooting and using Winscribe as well as general duties such as writing to patients etc.

June 2009 – June 2010, NHS Direct, Trial Projects Booking Agent

Working on a trial project to streamline the out of hours service between initial point of contact with health advisors or using online assessments tools through to nurses referring to doctors and other medical professionals. Following the initial set up and testing of the new system the team was then responsible for running it operationally and problem solving anything we encountered as well as offering recommendations on modifications.

My main tasks where to monitor automated online systems ensuring they did not do something accidentally, which could of jeopardised patient safety. Reporting any issues which could compromise the service being offered.

I had to also liaise with other out of hour’s services not covered by us in an effort to prevent any disruption to the public. This involved building a working relationship with several of the management teams from various out of hour’s providers.

January 2006 – June 2009, InterVend (UK) Ltd

East Midlands Field Sales Manager

I was responsible for field sales and contract signings within the Nottingham and Mansfield area specialising in business to business sales. This involved generating leads and following them through as well as maintaining working relationships with existing clients. I reported to the company director with performance figures and accounts.

March 2006 – Present, Self Employed

Security Consultant / Approved Subcontractor

Specialising in alcohol related security I have covered a variety of venues and establishments. The main duties involved would be the screening of potential clients for a venue, providing immediate first aid for injured persons and liaising with police and local authorities.

Being a licensed operative since 2006 I have had the privilege to meet and work with a wealth of people who have been grateful enough to share their experience and mentor me. Most recently one of my greatest achievements has been when I was awarded a ‘Commendation for Bravery’ by the High Sheriff of Nottingham and Judge Stokes.
