CAREER HISTORY 

HM Forces, Royal Signals 2008 – present

Communications Systems Specialist 2009 – present

Directly responsible for the maintenance fault finding and low level planning of all radios and communications equipment including the delivery of secure and reliable communications over secure digital radio, satellite communications and data networking. Tasked with maintaining the highest standard of communication’s knowledge and to present and train other personnel from outside the Royal Signals.

Developed, produced and presented an in-depth and technical presentation on tactical satellite communications for 120 professional personnel of higher rank delivered on time with very positive feedback. Reviewed the post presentation comments and requested information, extracted the relevant details and produced a briefing pack for future deliveries.

Delivered this presentation on multiple occasions to various ranks within the Army to group sizes ranging from 20 to 120. This training was found to be so beneficial that it was decided to develop a routine training lesson.

Designed the lesson material and format so that all personnel would acquire the knowledge and skills to be able to deploy, set up, commission and maintain communications within the time requested of them.

Performed security tasks for the 2012 London Olympics and obtained two security qualifications ‘Working as a door supervisor’ and Conflict Management for private security industry’ (City and Guilds Level 2)

Deployed to Afghanistan (Herrick 13) received additional training; as a team medic, tactical satellite, high frequency, very high frequency and data networking communications. Whilst deployed setup, provided and maintained communications within a forward deployment and on patrols. This deployment concluded a recommendation for promotion on return to the United Kingdom.

National diploma year 1 2007 – 2008

Completed the first year of a National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering and was offered apprenticeship with a local engineering company ‘Lyndi’ who specialise in the manufacture of fork lift trucks. Completed several months of work experience before making the decision to join the Army.

EDEXCEL Level 2 BTEC First diploma engineering 2006 – 2007

Completed and passed this course which included the development of skills and test working practices in engineering, using and interpreting engineering test information, applied electrical and mechanical science for technicians, mathematics for engineering technicians and selecting engineering materials.
