Short Bio:

Having in excess of 20 years professional experience within the construction industry within the fields of design, construction technology and project management, I have been an integral part of the project delivery team within the hospitality, retail, medical and leisure sectors throughout Europe and the Middle East.
My fields of project expertise include Design, Project Management and construction technology within a variety of project types, including, retail-leisure, Hotels and resorts, commercial and luxury residential.
My various skill-sets come from my initial training and work experience within both Interior and Architectural design and more recently to my practical and academic skills within project management and project supervision, with an emphasis being stated in relation to my quality control inspection abilities in relation to both ‘principal’ constructed elements and high specification finishes.
As a qualified construction and Prince2® project manager, I not only offer technical expertise in relation to the built environment but also business case, stakeholder and programme management.

Design / Project Manager at The David Brown Design Group, Edinburgh & International

2009 – June 2013

Currently acting as a Project/Design Manager with this Scottish based interiors and lighting design specialist on a variety of Retail, Commercial, hospitality and residential projects.

Duties:
Meeting with clients and preparing design briefs and project plans for the delivery of architectural solutions and acting as architectural/design coordinator on site during the construction phase, ensuring that design is being adhered to in accordance with the scope and programme.

During my tenure as a consultant, I have also undertaken short-term roles overseas, as listed below:

Engineering/Project Management Consultancy, Riyadh, KSA: Acting Projects Manager.
In my position as Projects Manager, I was ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operations of this large design/engineering companies Projects Division of some 150 staff. Projects included 5No. 300+ bed hospitals, multiple dental clinics, specialist oncology units and numerous teaching hospitals. Our project list also included multiple schools, government buildings and residential projects.

Contracting Company, Riyadh & Yanbu, KSA: Design Coordinator / Acting Project Controls Manager.
Responsible for interviewing and recommending the appointment of the international design consortium for a new 12billion SAR medical project within Riyadh.

Senior Project manager at Tameer Holding Investments LLC

2008 – 2009

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of Operations, I was originally employed as the finishes project manager for all Dubai Projects but after 3 months, I was promoted to the role of Senior Project Manager and acted as the client project manager for several high-rise projects within Dubai. As client representative on these projects, I was ultimately responsible for managing both the consultant and contractor and ensuring that the project was being progressed in accordance with the project execution plan and programme. The value of these projects was in excess of $450m.

Project Manager / Site Architect at RKD Architects

2006 – 2008

Acting as Site Architect and Project Manager for a new €70m, 6 star hotel within the West of Ireland for the Capella Group. This project would be one the largest conservation projects in Europe in which I would act as the lead technical, site based architect/project manager due to my extensive experience within conservation and project management.

During my tenure with RKD, I also acted as the technical design consultant/project manager on the €15m Lismore House Hotel renovation project and several multi-million euro commercial proposals.

2004 –  2006

Freelance Project Management/Design consultant with several large design houses. (UK & Ireland) • The Country Club Hotel, Cork, ROI. Value €20 million.
• 3 No golf resort & mixed use developments within the Cape Verde Islands. Value $1billion+
• Longford/Carriglass, ROI. Golf resort, hotels and new sustainable village. Value €100m+. My Work included the management of the design teams, the inspection and coordination of the interiors works on site and acting as a technical consultant to the  interior design office.

• New mixed use retail/residential project, Cork, ROI. Value €45m, Chain of retail stores (high end) throughout the Republic of Ireland.

2002 – 2004

Co-founding director of this chartered surveying, project management and design consultancy in Edinburgh. My duties included the day-to-day office management of staff, finance and resources as well as the technical aspect of working on physical projects as either a consultant to several government departments and the Police headquarters within the city of Edinburgh.

Senior Architectural Technologist / Designer at David Brown Design Group

1998 – 2001

Worked as senior technologist within this interior design practice and lighting design studio. Worked on several large retail/leisure projects such as Revolution Bar, Aberdeen, Punch and Bass bars throughout the UK. Also worked on Sky television call centres, NHS-24 Call centres. I was also sub-contracted through DBDG to a leading European design house, where I acted as a technical consultant, advising the interior design teams on ‘buildability’ and value engineering.

My role within this busy Edinburgh architectural practice was extremely diverse. Separate to working on small-scale domestic design projects, I was also heavily involved with on-site inspection and supervision of works as my eye to detail was recognised as one of my main assets. I also carried out a role as an adviser to the Edinburgh legal fraternity and undertook countless property inspections in order aid the sale of houses and commercial premises.
