CAREER HISTORY

 

Aug 15 – Mar 16         Shoreland Access                                NDT Inspector 

  • Successfully completed a temporary contract inspecting British Army Main Battle Tanks as part of a highly sensitive project and in-line with military technique sheets.
  • Reported on Dye Pen and Magnetic Particle Inspections and assisted in UT and complex Weld Inspections.
  • Worked in a target orientated environment in-line with MOD codes of conduct.
  • Worked at a major steel production plant in Teesside carrying out inspections on the blast furnace and stoves using rope access. Other projects have seen me working for the MOD carrying out lamination scans on a large fleet of armoured fighting vehicles at Pearson Engineering in Newcastle.

 

May 15 – Aug 2015    Stone Technical Services                    Steeplejack

As part of my resettlement from the army, I completed qualifications and took the opportunity of a placement with Stone Tech to put new skills into practice.  I carried out the following duties:

  • Assisted qualified Steeplejacks in the maintenance and inspections of church spires, steel and concrete chimney stacks using rope access solutions.
  • Constructed flying scaffolding, carried out safety checks and assisted in the rigging and security of all rope access assembly.
  • Assisted general building work and the cleaning of guttering at Royal Courts of Justice and maintenance of Serpentine Bridge in London using rope access techniques.
  • Used rope access and blended MPI & DPI Techniques to locate flaws and defects in steel chimney stacks and carried out UT thickness gauging techniques to test for corrosion.

 

Nov 2009 – Nov 15     Vehicle Operator/Technician British Army  

  • Training and licenses achieved in the operation of over 20 types of vehicles and vehicle specific training for operations in Afghanistan.
  • Six month operational tour in Afghanistan spent operating an armoured battlefield ambulance, driving in the harshest of conditions as part of re-supply convoys in Helmand Province.
  • Consistently working hard, receiving strong recommendations for promotion each year.

 

2006 – 2009                Fork Lift Truck Engineer                     Lansing Linde Ltd

  • Regularly used MMA, MIG and Oxy-Acetylene welding techniques to repair and fabricate components, ensuring equipment was up and running.
  • Gearbox removal, inspection and overhaul including complex hydrostatic drive system.
  • Engine rebuilds on Deutz diesel engines and complete disassemble of trucks.
  • Carried out testing with specialist equipment to determine locations, sizes and severity of faults in and around the engine block and surrounding systems.
