Professional Experience & Competencies:

 

My professional experience involves undertaking high quality painting work covering repairs, refurbishment and upgrades to a range of housing and other properties and buildings working individually, as part of a team and as a supervisor. I provide a responsive service to clients, liaising effectively with customers and other contractors.

 

Experience of decorative finishing such as:

• Application of all types of paint systems by brush and roller for interiors and exteriors

• Fitting and hanging wall coverings

• Preparation of surfaces for the application of decorative and/or protective finishes

• Application of specialist finishes such as graining, marbling

• Ames taping and filling

• Application of various floor paints ie. Epoxy and water based

• Application of road marking paints, eg. runways

 

Experience of industrial painting such as:

• Experience of working in industrial settings and working on industrial, marine and mechanical structures

• Experience of paint application equipment, sandblasting, spray equipment and brush treatment working on high end marine work, eg. leisure boats, fishing industry boats providing high quality finishes

• Preparation of work areas by special treatments and abrasive blasting

• Application of industrial finishes including paint spraying/by brush

• Application of T-wash to galvanized steelworks

 

Awareness and knowledge of Health & Safety/Risk Assessment issues:

• Working at heights – height safety awareness/equipment standards, eg. safe erection of scaffolding, ladders, etc.

• Working knowledge of confined spaces and their hazards

• Working knowledge of COSHH

• Manual handling – experience of complying with safe working practices and assessment of risk.

• Experience of maintaining a safe working site including safety precautions for operating machinery, awareness of potential hazards, use of personal protective clothing/equipment, completion of risk assessments and method statements

Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Construction: Painting & Decorating Level 2
