2012 – 2014
LUKOIL, Iraq
ERS Manager

Oversaw all employment, training, procurement, procedures, fire-related advice, emergency drills, records, and budgets to enable a fully functional ERS department and provide the required level of services in a remote overseas area. The project has evolved from basic living in a pilot camp to the completion of a purpose-built accommodation camp, the central processing facility, two fully functioning fire stations with over 60 operational staff, and eight fire vehicles. 

Overcame significant project problems with hard work, dedication, and commitment, including collaborating with customs, Iraqi authorities, and local governments to ensure no interruptions with project operations. 

Engaged with a multitude of different nationalities and backgrounds, such as Iraqi locals and expats, and exercise cultural awareness to ensure all groups function effectively. 

Exercised strong logistical skills by ensuring all procured vehicles and equipment are delivered on schedule, identifying supply chain issues in a timely manner, and possessing the knowledge and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with Iraqi authorities and local governments.  Provided oversight for three accommodation camps, the main CPF, and seven drilling clusters, which includes 1,500 personnel during any rotation.

 

2011 – 2012
SHELL, Qatar
Team Leader

Served as a Team Leader on a new gas to liquid project in Ras Laffan for the First Intervention Team within the plant. Effectively ran and organised the department and the crews on a daily basis. 

Responded to all incidents within the plant providing immediate intervention to minimise the outcome of an emergency situation. 

Liaised with external emergency response departments within Ras Laffan to supply expert advice regarding all aspects of the GTL plant in the event of any incidents. 

Provided first intervention team standbys for all high-risk activities, confined space, working at height, movement of fuels, hot works, and work involving all forms of respiratory protection. 

Participated in the strategic planning of the Permit to Work and effectively completed all rescue plans during high-risk activities within the plant. 

Ensured all fire-related devices were tested and inspected to a high level on an ongoing auditable test and inspection regime through the collaboration with other departments to ensure the highest level of professionalism and safety was achieved. 

Trained all plant personnel regarding the use of self-contained breathing apparatuses and other forms of respiratory protective equipment.

ATCO Frontec Europe, Afghanistan
Crew Commander

Served as a crew commander on a Cat 9 airfield within a large military domestic site. Managed all firefighting crews on major foam tenders assisted with running a watch of 30 on a daily basis. Promoted to Deputy Platoon chief (Watch Manager). 

Oversaw the shift’s day-to-day and operational response, maintained firefighting capabilities, manning, holidays, training, vehicles, equipment, and procedures. 

Operated with two vehicles for the structural response with 10 men and a minimum of four vehicles for the crash response with 17 men, each effectively supporting the other team. 

Provided coverage for over 30,000 personnel at any given time with risks ranging from large bulk fuel storage installations, military equipment and, projectiles, all classifications of fire hazards, and military and civil aircraft with up to 800 movements a day.

 

2010 – 2011
HAROUGE Oil Operations, Libya
HSE Specialist

Served as HSE specialist and was part of a team in the Amal oil field in the desert of Libya. Covered all aspects of the airfield operations and monitored the control of all services that were operationally required. Successfully collaborated as a fire/safety team to ensure all aspects of safety were followed throughout the oil camp and stations. 

Provided rescue and fire-fighting services for bulk storage of fuel, fuel tests, CAA, airfield maintenance, and aircraft using the airfield.  Ensured safety procedures were practised by training fire fighters and company employees, following procedures and risk assessments, engaging in day-to-day health and safety within the oil field, monitoring processes and procedures, and overseeing operations, such as fuel tank cleaning.

Successfully implemented a safe practical fire training area to meet the needs for industrial, aviation, and domestic fire training.  Accomplished a basic training package to meet the needs of the individuals on the fire/safety team with a recording system in place.

 

2009 – 2010
NATO ISAF, Afghanistan
Fire Shift Leader

Promoted to Fire Shift Leader, which was very extensive and covered all aspects of Rescue and Fire Fighting Services within the NATO camp and Airfield. 

Implemented day-to-day operations of the Fire Station with a multi-national crew and ensured crew was trained to a high standard so that in the future they were able to run the fire department without aid from NATO. 

Engaged with all personnel, oversaw training, vehicles, and equipment, enforced standards from NATO and ICAO, ensuring all operational requirements were met. 

Overcame many risks within the aerodrome, such as working around special fuels, bulk fuel storage, and all types of military aircraft, including 500 movements a day, hot cargo, and projectiles. Endured regular incidents of large fuel spills, suicides, rocket attacks, and aircraft fires.
