I graduated in the last year with a first class honours in Music Journalism, with work experience in events management, marketing and promotion. I have also set up a small live streaming business called Kode TV, which streams live music events.

Kode TV Live Streaming Service

Planning, researching, developing and undertaking a live stream for our own underground music events. This involved working with clubs/venues and promoting the stream to our target audience. Due to the technicalities of a live stream I had to learn how to use high-tech equipment and streaming softwares in order for the stream to be broadcast in high quality. We also had to ensure legal requirements were met to avoid copyright infringements.

Sept 2014 – January 2015
Events Management/Promotion/Marketing at Junk Club

This involved brainstorming ideas for each event in terms of a theme that suited the artists playing that night. I had to make plans and schedules in order for the event to run smoothly, create budgets, think of effective promotional strategies and put them into action whilst promoting the event via Facebook, selling tickets and bringing large groups of people to the event.

Promotion assistant at Strong Hold records (house/drum and bass)

Using Facebook and Twitter, stickers and flyers, I would promote Strong Hold and its music. I worked closely with the members of this record label, allowing me to see behind the scenes of how a record label works.

I wrote weekly pieces for Audio Addict, including news stories, features and reviews.

I wrote weekly album reviews for the website. The artists were small, unsigned artists which allowed me to hear and get to know the music of some very interesting musicians.

I selected news writers for the website and ensured certain pieces were written by a deadline each day. I edited each story before sending it over to the editor for publishing. This meant having initiative on what stories suited the target audience and ensuring each writer was punctual to deadlines.
