European Parliament

Accredited Parliamentary Assistant to MEPs Sophocles Sophocleous and Kyriakos Mavronikolas (S&D Group, Vice Chairmen of SEDE Committees)

Duties:

 Drafting parliamentary questions to the Council and the Commission.

 Drafting amendments for reports and opinions.

 Monitoring and participating in decision-making within the European Parliament and the EU in the wider EU level.

 Following and monitoring the meetings of the following committees: Foreign Affairs (AFET), Security and Defence and the Environment (SEDE), Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).

 Press Officer. Sending out press releases to promote the work of the MEP. Handling social media platforms. Arranging media coverage.

 Liaison with Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the EU, lobbyists, Embassies, NGOs, Media and the headquarters of the Party of European Socialists (PES) etc.

 Organizing events in Brussels and Cyprus.

 Organizing MEPs group of visitors (Dealing with any administrative work, Booking flights and hotels, Touring in the city and the European Parliament).

August 2003 – August 2004: Maior Sergeant at the 4th Brigade in Nicosia: Spokesperson of the Colonel, Andreas Charides, responsible for determining an scheduling the daily duties and leaves of approximately 40 soldiers on an hourly basis.
