Keen to practically apply the theoretical background of social policy study programme, I was selected as part of a small team that won funding to create a sustainable project aimed at social inclusion programme of young people with special needs through Outreach initiatives. It enabled them to gain access and, therefore gain social skills that enabled them to actively participate in the wider community. The long term goal was that the users of our hands-on service would qualify for access & contribute to equal opportunities in all areas of mainstream society, including those available on the professional platform if they so decided to pursue work.

I researched, innovated and organised educational and fundraising activities aimed at helping the young people to interact in a manner that fostered and boosted long term self-determination and independence. I worked in close association and co-operation with their parents, local Community leaders among other stakeholders, like Parentlineplus, Rotary club, Fairview etc. I innovated and proactively advocated for the sustainability of the project, through regular fundraising events by raising awareness of our project’s objectives and seeking the support of the community, through the media, interactive forums and lobbying politicians. My practical strategy proved successful in securing further funding.

Campaign Officer Intern to Education Director for Scotland, UNICEF – UK

As a self-motivated ambassador of children’s welfare and rights, I worked closely with UNICEF-UK’S education director for Scotland , Mr. Bruce to launch & promote the UN’s Global Citizenship programme in the National curriculum in the UK school system. I advocated, prepared and delivered training seminars & workshops to teachers and pupils at both primary & secondary school level about the objectives and importance of Global Citizenship. I independently coordinated and delivered educational products, successfully convincing schools to become partners of the UN’S Charter on children’s Rights and Responsibilities. I organised nationwide fundraising events with local communities, and diligently worked to secure long-term beneficial partnerships with schools, Goodwill celebrity ambassadors, like premier footballers, film stars like Angelina Jolie, politicians, business personalities and of course with individual benefactors. I produced and proof-read documents for the education director, and produced update reports, as well as actively participating in learning and training strategies, I also contributed to the mission’s ideas ad ways of finding and maintaining support to the programme.
