Comment: I retired early from the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 2002 with the rank of Sergeant. After serving for 13 years I desired a change of employment from the public sector into the private sector.

I worked for Adstar BOP which was a contracting business with trucks, tractors and heavy machinery. I returned to aviation in 2004.

After working back in a hanger for a period of six months, I was offered a position with Columbia Helicopters. I was always very comfortable working on aircraft in remote and isolated locations, so this position suited me well. Due to reallocation of Columbia helicopters assets I moved off shore with my aircraft career. I joined the team of engineers of Columbia Helicopters in Papua New Guinea keeping their aircraft in a tidy, airworthy state.

Having had a wide range of operating environments from the heat and humidity of the tropics to the dry and cold of Antarctica and varied operational objectives I believe I am able to fit into any existing operation well. All previous employers and supervisors have commented on how I adapt quickly and very well to any difficult or usual task and “just get the job done”.

My training and experience as an engineer and inspector of airworthiness, in hangers, tactically deployed with New Zealand’s military and my experience in working in the Papua New Guinea jungle; put me in an ideal situation to join any maintenance or engineering team that deals with aircraft, equipment or operations that are a little out of the ordinary environment
