EU MEP’s Threaten to Raise Polish Minimum Wage?

Posted on: 22.10.2010    13:41:46

MEPs have passed a resolution which is to set the EU minimum wage to amount to 60 percent of the average salary in member states. This is only advisory but it does make you wonder what planet these be are fro!

If the resolution was implemented immediately, the minimum Polish workers wage would rise by 700 zloty (176 euro), as the current minimum wage stands at 42 percent of the country’s average salary.

Frankly this is ridiculous as the move would mean Poland would have to raise salaries by 30% and would lead to wide scale unemployment and an even higher level of migration.
