A Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) investigation began in January 2008 after the workers were discovered wearing only sports clothing and trainers. The men and women had arrived in the UK via an unlicensed agency in Poland and were given contracts specifying they would be working in the catering industry as waiters and waitresses.
Fortunately their plight was discovered within 3 weeks by GLA representatives. Four chose to return home but the other Polish Workers continued to work in the UK via other agencies.
