British people ‘lacking the hard-working ethic’

Many British people are not willing to put in the hard work needed to get ahead, it has been claimed.

Responding to a recent article in the Daily Mail which said that prime minister Gordon Brown is failing the country by not giving British jobs to British workers, Mary Leicester said that the reason is deep-rooted.

She claimed that many of today’s young adults have been brought up by parents on benefits and therefore to do not have the desire to play a role in British industry.

“Sadly, a lot of the British-born youngsters just don’t appear to have the hard-working ethics that are needed. Foreign workers work much harder, expect no perks and are grateful for the work,” she wrote.

This stance was recently reflected by figures from the Office for National Statistics, which showed that eastern European workers are flocking to the UK to take on jobs which British people do not want to do.
