Role and Responsibilities

As a CAT Diesel Mechanic responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out troubleshooting and repairs on CAT equipment and components
  • Help guide and mentor trainees
  • Complete service reports and all paperwork on time and correctly
  • The ordering of parts (including crediting when necessary)
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
  • Follow Health and Safety guidelines
  • Make sure all company tools are maintained and returned


Candidate Requirements

The ideal CAT Diesel Mechanic will have the following experience and qualifications:


  • Fully qualified with at least 4 years post qualification experience
  • Excellent mechanical ability
  • Diagnosis, service and repair experience
  • Flexible approach to work in multiple departments
  • Great customer service skills
  • Positive and hardworking nature
  • Good under pressure individually but also in a team atmosphere
  • Physically fit and strong (must be able to lift 20 kgs)
  • Valid Driving license



  • Understanding of Caterpillar computer diagnostics
  • Previous experience on CAT machinery and attachments
  • Hold a high-risk license (dogging and forklift)
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel etc)
  • DBS, SupportPoint, Lotus Notes, SIS would be highly advantageous


Depending on current location and Nationality several documents will be needed for Visa and Skills Assessments

Some of the evidence that will be required to support any visa application will include, but not limited to:

  • A copy of relevant qualification certificates (professional and educational)
  • A copy of any required registration/licensing
  • The curriculum vitae or resumé (including all employment history: the last 5 years is particularly critical)
  • Previous employment references (including evidence of two years’ work experience in the nominated occupation or a related field)

The other key criteria is passing a comprehensive medical, police check of all countries in which the candidate has worked and evidence of English language skills:


  • Where the candidate did not complete high school in English, candidates will be required to provide evidence of English language skills (ie IELTS test at least 5); holders of Canadian, Irish, NZ, UK or US passports are exempted
  • If the candidate is exempted from providing evidence of English language skills, it is essential that they have good conversational English skills
