Our Automotive client specialises in all-terrain vehicles and is looking for a Senior Engine Designer to join their team at their technical centre working on a new IP where you will be working on clean sheet engine design, from concept to manufacture.

The Role

  • Establish a reasonable project development schedule from concept to production implementation in line with overall business requirements.
  • Support all design related component styling, purchasing, and manufacturing issues with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
  • Determine ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost conformance.
  • Determine nature and type of electronic models, detail drawings, and analysis required to support the above and supervises their release through the release cycle.
  • Coordinate, mentor, and supervise designers within team.
  • Prepare preliminary sketches and/or schematic diagrams and/or presentations to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.
  • Participate in design reviews on projects to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.
  • Analyse field problems and recommends possible solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly project status report.
  • Represent the Company at engineering/legal standards conformance meetings; prepares record searches, depositions, site, and vehicle examination reports as required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous project related assignments.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Design experience in an O.E. Environment
  • Extensive experience Pro-Engineer
  • Experience with one or more of the following vehicle design categories: Engines and associated systems (induction, exhaust, cooling), Chassis design, Suspension systems, Braking systems and wheels, Welded structures, Bolted joints and fasteners, Castings and forgings, Sheetmetal, Electrical component specification and packaging, Accessories.
  • Creation of original specifications for system performance.
  • Superior technical knowledge as demonstrated by academic experience and broad practical experience in engine design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good strategic vision and business knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead major process change in a way that enhances overall corporate performance.
