Our client has a number of positions across Essex, Kent and Surrey as well as London for experienced English speaking Bus mechanics to work in their depots.

If you are an HGV mechanic with truck or heavy plant experience we are prepared to consider transferable skills but you must speak English and be a resident of the European Union. Applications from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are particularly welcomed

Bus MechanicPurpose of the Job  

To carry out maintenance and servicing in line with the Client’s Engineering & Quality Standards.

To provide safe, clean and reliable vehicles, in order to meet Peak Vehicle Requirements in the most efficient and reliable manner.

To maintain and repair vehicles to the highest standards, within strict turn around times; the ability to promptly diagnose and repair faults to ensure the delivery of service is maintained for our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

Maintenance of Fleet

• Ensure scheduled maintenance checks are carried out in a timely fashion, including MOT’s and servicing.


• Ensure repairs are carried out promptly and to high standard to prevent recurrence of fault.

Diagnostics and Fault-Finding

• Clearing defects found on inspection. Ability to pinpoint quickly and accurately faults and take action to rectify.

Health & Safety awareness

As an employee you have a responsibility to co-operate with managers in ensuring that the workplace is safe for everyone by taking reasonable care not to do anything that might endanger you or others, either through your actions or lack of action, and never to act in a way that causes either you or the client to be in breach of the law. You are expected to consider, and take account of, the potential hazards and risks in everything you do whilst you are at work.

Person Specification


• Appropriate engineering qualifications.


• Engineering apprenticeship.

Knowledge & Experience:


• Previous experience of adherence to VOSA / Department of Transport standards (or local equivalent) .

• Previous experience of maintenance / repair of HGV’s , PCV’s., Trucks, Coaches, Commercial Vehicles

• Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety issues.

Skills & Abilities:


• Communication skills

• Competent to work unsupervised.

• Ability to prioritise work and deliver to set deadlines.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Self-motivated,

• High attention to detail.
