JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Develops and implements safety program to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, utilizing knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws: Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included. 2. Determines amount of weight that can be safely placed on plant floor. 3. Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. 4. Supervise various construction projects including that of substations, office buildings, ware house sheds, staff accommodations and roads etc. 5. Monitor works done by contractors ensuring progress as per program, quality and safety.

6. Provide technical and administrative support to the Engineers. Promote innovative ideas, indigenous developments, etc and ensure the works are done as per specifications/relevant standards. 7. Carries out other similar or related duties such as providing advice on construction considerations / potential problems to the Project Engineers 8. Ensure Department’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environment standards while carrying out any activities by the section 9. Ensuring that construction personnel exercise good housekeeping practices to keep the work site as safe and tidy as possible during/after construction. 10. Ensures that the contractor has accomplished all arrangements regarding safety rules and regulations pertaining to the work on site and that all individuals on site are complying with these rules and regulations. 11. Prepare the projects work plan ensure the comprehension of work plan from all engineering aspects. 12. Monitor, ensure and report on the quality of the work throughout the execution process. 13. Plan and allocate the day today activities of the section in line with the guide line set by the Department. 14.
