Project Engineer – Pirovics Engineering Services Ltd, Port Harcourt (March 2008 – July 2012)

My role as Project Engineer provided me an opportunity to work closely with Management team

My responsibilities included:

• Prepare technical and commercial tender bid for service contracts.
• Present technical proposals on modification requests respecting cost, safety and operability.
• Follow up project billing, cost estimating, control and verification of invoices for billing.
• Attend pre-tender meeting and site visits.
• Preparing requisition, purchase orders and contract strategies for materials and procurement contracts.
• Develop scope of work, cost estimate and technical appraisal for service contracts
• Co-operate with project manager to ensure that project are completed as at when due and meet their set targets.
• Implement online bidding of contracts using Ariba and NipeX portals.

 Field Engineer – NEC Technical Services Ltd                                                          (2006 – 2007)

Experience gained as an Intern includes:

• Pressure testing of welded flowline.
• Internal Inspection, repairs and painting of fire-fighting water tanks.
• Construction/Re-routing of 12Km Ebocha flowstation.
• Supply of various sizes of valves.
• Revamping of NGL/FUEL gas metering facilities.
  

 Project Participated/Supervised

• Replacement of valves and accessories in Akri flow station (Detailed engineering, procurement, installation, instrumentation and mechanical works) (2008)
• Internal inspection, repairs and painting of fire-fighting water tanks (4 and 6) at Ebocha centre.  (2010)
• Construction/Re-routing of gas flow lines at Obiafor oil center. (2011)
• Supply of various sizes of valves, 500KVA transformers and instrument materials. (2012)
  

SKILLS

Teamwork - I worked in a project team that successfully executed pipeline inspection by DCVG and rehabilitation of Beniboye cathodic protection systems with Shell Petroleum Development Company. I was also the secretary of electrical/electronic design club in my school. My active role in the club won me an award as the best problem analyst member 2006.


Computer Proficiency - During my degree and work experience, I have acquired a whole range of computer skills, many self-taught. For example, In 2009 I was the only staff in my company to have learned Microsoft project on my own and effectively use it to develop tentative work schedule for service tender bid for Mobil producing unlimited. I also have a good knowledge of other computer programs such as CorelDraw, Matlab and Simulink, all Microsoft offices (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).


Project Planning - I have participated from project initiation of replacement of valves and accessories (detailed engineering, procurement, installation, instrumentation and mechanical works) down to its closeout.  My role in the project involved developing material checklist, presenting technical proposal on modification request, preparing purchase orders, invoicing, and daily site/technical report.


Communication - I have gained good communication skills as a project engineer. I have been able to negotiate on behalf my company on additional jobs/work scope with clients. Also working closely with the management team of the company has improved on my communication skills over the years.


Adaptability – My education and work experience has helped me to adapt to varied circumstance. I have effectively worked in different region and department in my company. For example, I have worked in the technical, procurement and sales department located in different regions of the country. Each of this region/department presented its challenges which helped me to adapt and relate favorably with my fellow colleague.
