A 3000 H.P. Drill Mech EDS Joystick Land Rig with a 750 ton NOV Top Drive.My job there was supervising crew during the night shift.Attending and conducting Pretour and Prejob safety meetings as well as J.S.A.s.
  • Organizing and supervising Rig ups and Rig downs as well as Rig Moves and other non routine jobs and corresponding with Day Rig Manager and KOC Company men as required.
  • Preparing standing instructions for the Drillers.
  • Involved in the making up of JSA’s and Standard operating procedures

Working on a 2000 H.P. Land Rig with a Tesco Top Drive. Rig was moved via Helicopters most of the time.  My job there dealt with Rig moves that involved alot of logistics and pre planning.  Worked with Rig Crew and Helicopter crew preparing and load testing each load to ensure all loads safe to fly and making up priority load lists.

Jan. 2004 – Feb. 2006 Parker Drilling as a Senior Driller

The Rig – 3000 H.P. Land Rig with a Varco TDS 8 Top Drive.This Rig is equipped with hydraulic slips , Weatherford TorkWinder Iron roughneck.This is a Pad Rig consisting of 3 modules for fast rig skids and can lay down triple stands of Range 2 D.P. or Double stands of Range 3.All tubulars can be made up or broke out down below in the Pipe Barn.We were drilling some of the longest extended reach wells in the world at that time with measured depths of  + - 11000 meters.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the floor crew and coordinating with the pipe barn and mud tank assistant drillers to ensure an efficient safe operation.
  • Responsible for the operation of all rig controls on the rig floor and monitoring all parameters and Mud tank volumes closely for signs of arising problems
  • Calculate volumes and fill out trip sheets and Well Control board as required.
  • Coordinated with toolpusher and company man about any concerns or problems.
  • Responsible for making sure Rig Crew is familiar with emergency response procedures and well control procedures and drills held according to Exxon Mobil policies.
  • Responsible for the visual inspection of any tools or tubulars being run into the hole and to ensure all necessary information is recorded from them.
  • Ensuring all equipment is properly serviced and maintained and well control checklists performed daily.
  • Monitor all activities on Rig Floor and hold recorded safety meetings and JSA’s as required.
  • Ensure proper work permits are filled out prior to jobs taking place and all lockout tag outs verified before work commences.
  • Monitor Ton Miles and slip and cut drilling line as required.
  • Record all tight spots and problems and make sure to leave a good relief handover at end of shift.
  • Work and communicate with Directional People and discuss any concerns related to them.
  • Communicate with crew and listen to any concerns they may have and if necessary relay them to company man or toolpusher.

Doing workovers on High pressure critical H2S wells Depths 3800 – 4200 meters straight and Directional
  • Responsible for supervision and training of Kazakh crew.
  • Most of the wells were Tubing changes. Some of the wells had to be worked over with very little overbalance so well control was always top of priority list.
  • Responsible for all activities on the Rig Floor and mud tanks and coordinating with national Driller who under normal circumstances operated the rig most of the time.                                                         Coordinated with national Toolpusher and A.D on the critical monitoring of tank volumes.
  • Communicate with crew as well as possible and listen to any concerns they may have and if necessary relay them to company man or toolpusher.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and Instructions to Driller sheets
  • Monitor Drill pipe tally and coordinate with depth recorder.
  • Monitor Ton Miles and slip and cut drilling line as required.
