Working as the sole designer for a local publisher, creating printed books and digital publications on sports and history. I designed printed books using Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress, formatting the author’s original doc files over 200 plus pages. E-books were created using a mixture of applications, including Dreamweaver, Calibre and Kindle plugins via Adobe InDesign.

B&F Services / Freelance Graphic Designer, Marble Arch, London
Apr 2007 – Jan 2010

Working for a business and finance company, my main responsibility was designing a monthly business magazine using InDesign CS2. I was also responsible for creating all other design work for print, including full page advertisements, brochures, media packs, plus PowerPoint presentations and web graphics such as flash banners and mailshots.

Landmark Publishing / Book Designer, Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Jan 2003 – Aug 2005

Design and layout on a wide range of illustrated historical books and colour travel guides (from the Peak District to Rhodes etc). Working on 3 or 4 books at a time, I would take the projects from authors’ text drafts and photographs to completed books. This would involve setting and formatting the text in PageMaker, adjusting the quality of photographs to printable standard in Photoshop and creating illustrative banners and backgrounds in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Journal Publishing Company / Mac Art Worker, Curzon Street, Derby
Nov 2001 – Jan 2003

Working for a newspaper-publishing group, primary roles involved designing mono and full colour advertisements using mainly Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop. Most advertisements would have to be created from scratch or recreated from an existing advert using scanning and repro, whilst other clients provided strict specifications. Other roles included designing banners and updating mastheads plus any other artwork required.
