In 2013 I graduated from the University of Kent where I earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have been interested in science from an early age and I am proud of achieving this qualification. During my time at Kent I also represented the university as a member of the men’s lacrosse first team and was elected club social secretary in my second year. These achievements demonstrate my self motivation, thirst for knowledge and dedication.

Skills gained during my degree

 I gained an in-depth knowledge of disease and medicine including the pathogenesis of major diseases and the mechanism of actions of many pharmaceuticals. I also gained an overview knowledge of bio-chemistry.

 I developed my laboratory techniques and my ability to collect, analyse and accurately present data both written and verbally.

Final Year Research Project – “The induction of porphyria in pathogen colonies via locating and utilising structural differences in the enzyme Protoporphyrinogen Oxidase”. I was required to methodically obtain, analyse and present research data with reference to the pharmaceutical field.

Career Summary

Sept 2013 – Present: FirstBaseIT (Project Co-ordinator/Business analyst)

During my time at FirstBaseIT (a small software development company), I have been a part of a rapidly growing business. My role was to take large projects from the client gathering stage through to live release. I have spent time client site as well as managing a team of developers based in India. I have proven myself as an important asset to the company, which is demonstrated by the pay rises that I have received.

Skills

Communication My ability to convey my knowledge and views has been tested throughout my social and educational life. My above average communication skills have been tested during my time spent client site and my successful year long service as social secretary.

Teamwork I have undergone successful teamwork in the academic and non-academic environment. Most notably, working in a close knit team of 5 at FirstBaseIT.

Problem solving I have always excelled as a problem solver, I attribute this to my ability to remain calm under pressure. To be successful in any project management role, one must be able to methodically and rapidly achieve the best solution for any problem that arises.

Organisation A high level of organisation is necessary to gain a 2:1 in a labour intensive degree such as biomedical sciences.
