Career Summary

Winsor Metals
January 2014 – Present

In order to gain more work experience and to come to an understanding of what career I wanted to pursue, I was given an opportunity to work at Winsor Metals on a full time basis.

I recently completed my forklift license.

While this has been a great experience for me, it is not what truly what I want to do.  I would now like to pursue my studies part time while working.

Winsor Metals
2009 – 2013

Part time during school holidays and on weekends.

Getting to know the business, from understanding basic office principles, working in the lab testing metals for aluminum through to the purchasing of scrap metal directly from manufacturers who use aluminum and have scrap (cutting out the scrap metal merchant where possible).

Before I started working at Winsor Metals all their aluminum was purchased through scrap metal merchants, it was through my own initiative that I approached manufacturers (who use aluminum) directly and negotiated better prices for the manufacturers who were selling the aluminum, and saved Winsor Metals money on the purchase price of the aluminum, as they were now able to buy the scrap metal directly and not through a scrap merchant.

CFR Freight (Pty) Ltd
2013

This was for a short period of time and was basically work experience. Getting to know the business, understanding the operations and sales within an NVOCC (consolidator)
