Shepherd Construction, United Kingdom 2007 – Present

Senior Site Engineer May 2013- Present

Currently working on design and build of 90 million 471 flats and retail units, 5 blocks with one block of 16 stories in Colindale, London with post-tensioned slabs. Currently managing team of six engineers. The role involves setting up the site, planning of works, design management, creating subcontract quality plans and quality sheets, specific to the project requirement and specification in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001. Keeping progress records, creating weekly plans. Assisting the design manager and design team in resolving technical problems and temporary works issues. Liaising with the Local Council for permits. Reviewing method statements and risk assessments, carrying out safety audits. Coordination of all temporary works including four tower cranes.


• Assigned the task of managing construction of high rise building specifically monitoring and maintaining Quality of piling, groundworks and structure with post tension slabs.

• Shepherd used Colindale Site as an example to HSE to show how temporary works are managed company wide using my paperwork.

Site Manager – September 2012 to May 2013

Served as the lead manager on site, Oxford Street 9m mixed development, on one of the busiest streets of London, next to London underground tunnel with 59 party wall agreements for construction phase. The development involved Retail unit, offices and flats. Led 2.5 month pre-construction phase, involving site set up, setting up logistics, traffic management plan. Held meetings with council to agree traffic management, hoarding, scaffold, parking suspension licenses, crane erection and dismantling, issuing relevant method statements and programme to London underground. Setting up the construction phase health and safety plan, involved in planning, programme, creating induction, and neighbours letters. The site inherited extensive temporary works from the Client. Responsibilities included day to day running of the job for all activities including piling, ground works (pile caps, beams), steel frame, and the temporary works. Led the site from pre-construction phase to completion of ground-works and steel frame.


• Drove and led pre-construction planning and setting up of traffic management, logistics, and welfare on a logistically challenging site, on one of the busiest streets in London.

• Worked as the lead manager on site, controlling all activities and health & safety.

Senior Engineer/Site Manager – Mar 2011 till September 2012

Served as manager for all aspects of site construction for £32M luxury flats, by Regents Park, London. Involved in demolition of existing ground floor slab and 1 level of basement, installing temporary works to support the existing boundaries with a Canal (British Waterways) and London underground to bulk dig for 2 levels of basement. Scaffold design, approval, and inspections. Liaising between designers and British waterways and London underground to obtain ‘Approval in Principle’ for temporary and permanent construction. Monitoring and resolving programme and commercial issues. Approving and coordinating temporary works, and any site commercial variations. Oversee all health and safety, QC, and site logistics. Reviewing and approving method statements, and subcontractors’ construction methodologies. Attending design workshops. Preparing monthly progress report for client.

Holding weekly progress meetings with subcontractors and all stakeholders. Preparing sub-contract quality plans and set up QA system as per ISO 9001 requirements and carrying out inspections.


• Handpicked to manage construction at company’s valued site in London requiring extensive technical judgement, with boundaries to London underground and British Waterways including all demolition, piling, and concrete, steel structure to erect 8 storey high building. Looked after dry-lining, scaffolding, brick/blockwork, lifts, facade, M & E services and internal fit-out.

• Set up and led the QA procedures for piling, groundwork, drainage, temporary works, RC frame, dry-lining, cladding and carrying out inspections with external consultants.

• Mitigated any potential delays, and developing effective short-term programmes.

• Maintained positive relations with community during all phases, keeping them informed, and quickly responding to any concerns.

Site Manager – Aug 2010 to Mar 2011

Served as manager for construction of a £110m new world class research laboratory to further develop Pirbright as a world class international centre of excellence in veterinary virology for Institute of Animal Health. The scheme included a new main laboratory building with containment basement, a new gatehouse and energy centre.

Investigation works on leaking basement: Producing a report, proposing remedial works and managing the work after approval. All works done to the satisfaction of client.

Senior Site Engineer & Package Manager – 2008 to 2010

Managed subcontractors for all aspects of ground, steel-frame and external works of £33M ‘Building schools for future’ scheme for government of United Kingdom. Working with the borough of Broxbourne for construction of new school for 1100 pupils. Reviewed and approved method statements and risk assessments. Monitored onsite construction, information availability, drawing and specification accuracy. Facilitated information flow between architects, design engineers, and subcontractors. Provided QC for ISO 9001 and all site construction. Issued NCRs. Organised and oversaw external inspections. Administered permit-to-work system. Coordinated and signed-off on temporary works. On site from start to completion, snagging and de-snagging. Managed all health and safety.

Worked on 5 star hotel for Marriott by Oxford Street, refurbishing the Grade 1 listed building to the highest standard. Working alongside the resident engineer, did reports and investigation works of existing structure to help designer with the drawings and changes.
