Profile

I am a highly motivated, hard working and charismatic team player. I have over 25 years of Senior Management experience in the Retail and Financial sector and I find myself looking for a new challenge and a new beginning, working abroad. I have gained essential experience in the past few years in the Pension market and I am currently tasked with running a multi-million pound business. I deal with clients of all pension sizes and from all walks of life looking into both Self Invested Personal Pensions and Qualified Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes. I have built solid relationships with Independent Financial Advisors and drive performance within my business to maximize growth. I believe this contributes to the magnitude of money that is turned over per year. My skills from my Retail background provide my business with structure, discipline, integrity and attention to detail and that reflects in my personality.

Experience

Senior Manager / Deputy Store Manager
ASDA Stores Ltd
June 1996 – November 2012

During my employment with ASDA I had various Senior Management Roles in Stores across the country including working at ASDA’s head office for two years. I have managed departments with over 75 colleagues and deputised managing 450 colleagues including Senior Managers, Team Leaders and Human Resource staff. I have always been held accountable for my Key Performance Indicators and the Profit and Loss of my stores. Working for such a large organisation gave me the discipline and structure needed to develop my own management style, leaving me with the skills needed to progress at such a rapid pace in the Retail sector. I was held accountable for my own individual performance and the performance on my team managers and their colleagues. I was tasked with making sure my stores where presentable, full and making sure targets set where achieved. Whilst working in ASDA Head Office, my role was to implement home shopping across the county’s stores. Integrating the ready tested Wall Mart system it was a vital role and my hard work and dedication paid dividends in the shape of ASDA now having one of the most successful home shopping networks in the UK and I was a part of setting that up.

General Manager
Sycamore Crown Ltd
November 2012 – March 2014

Overseeing the entire financial operation of over 60 colleagues, my main role was to ensure the profitability of this small business. I had to analyse weekly, monthly and annual budgets, review financial reports and projections and set all managers and colleagues targets that where both challenging but achievable. Working closely and inline with the Financial Conduct Authority guidelines and making sure the business was compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations. I used key discipline skills learnt in my time as Deputy Store Manager to ensure the smooth running of the business. Working predominantly in the Self Invested Personal Pension market my company assisted clients up and down the country in getting regulated and financial advice into their pensions. Knowledge gained from this gave me a better understanding of the financial market and I was heavily involved with the product providers and making sure clients funds landed successfully into their new chosen scheme.

General Manager
Hudson Clark Ltd
March 2014 – Current

Working in the Financial Sector and continuing my personal progression. Hudson Clark is a very reputable and ambitious financial business. Working right across the spectrum, they help clients review their pensions, ISA’s, life insurance and wills. The role I am tasked with is to manage expectations of the Independent Financial Advisors, work and build strong relationships with product providers and keep moral high within the office to help maintain the high standards set. I have to travel from time to time to close deals with new product providers in countries like Gibraltar, Malta and Spain. I have to deal with problem solving on a day-to-day basis as the Financial Sector changes so regularly I always keep my business two steps ahead. I regularly conduct meetings with all parties involved this includes the Independent Financial Advisors via conference calls, Skype and face to face. With our main route being in the Qualified Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme market I have to maintain relationships with people all over Europe. My skills that I have developed over the years allow me to be a very approachable professional whilst maintaining organisation and time management. I now have a perfect working knowledge of the SIPP and QROPS markets and what is needed to create a multi-million pound business structure that is both successful and sustainable.

Skills

I have a track record of helping and developing new or potential managers. Since my time at ASDA to my current position, I have successfully promoted 17 members of staff into management roles. I believe this to be down to my ability to spot potential in individuals and nurture their talent, with training, to develop that individual and gain the best from them.

I am a very driven manager. I have done my role long enough and successfully enough to know what good looks like, this reflects in my personality. I believe in leading from the front and pride myself on being energetic, charismatic and enthusiastic. Having this attitude I believe is infectious and spreads through my business to bring out the best in people.

I have a very keen attention to detail and pride myself on knowing my business inside and out. I spend the best part of my day living my business being on the ‘shop floor’, making my presence known and understanding issues in real time. The rest of my time is very analytical, I spot trends; knowing my figures is integral to understanding how my business runs, how it can get better and potentially what problems lie ahead.

I am a people person, I enjoy working in teams and leading by example. Any person who has worked with me, past or present, I would say will agree with me. I am a leader and great motivational speaker. I believe I would be a fantastic asset to any business looking for someone with my skill set.

I believe entering this new chapter of my life my skill sets would be very beneficial to a accounts manager role or a client specific role, helping business develop their relationships abroad and giving the client that one-to-one time needed to close deals, move business forward and reassurance.
