The project was related to a terminal application of 16 new tanks located in Mussafah and the end-user was Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) located in Abu Dhabi.

I was responsible for technical review and comment in complete detail engineering design: design general specifications, instrument index, instrument MTO, I/O Lists for DCS/ESD/PLC/F&G/TGS/MCM/MOV systems, Instrument Wirring Connection Lists (Instrument/FO/Serial Cable Schedule, JB schedule,etc) Alarm and Trip Setting Summary List, interpretation of specifications and drawings(instrument standard drawings, instrument hook up and installation drawings, Control System Block Diagrams for Overall System Architecture, DCS, ESD, F&G, TGS, MOV, MCM, CCTV, Public Aaddress and Telecom System, etc, Control System Cable Block Diagram, Plot Plans and Layouts, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, P&ID’s, Instrument Power Supply Diagram, Instrument Grounding Diagram, Material Requisitions for the technical evaluation (TBE), check and approval of Detailed Engineering design and other engineering services in order to make sure that the produced engineering dossier is meeting the Company specifications,Company HSE Policy, Company QA/QC procedures.

The key activities were related mostly into rolling the project with Project/Program Managers and other specialist engineers to ensure that the project execution meets the project objectives. I was responsible for providing all the DCS/ESD/PLC technical support for the interpretation of specifications and drawings, for the technical evaluation, check and approval of the Basic Engineering design, Detailed Engineering design and As-Build Design as well as for other engineering services in the Arpechim Refinery areas. Specifically, these Automation Engineering Services has been developed within ARPECHIM DCS Implementation Project in OMV PETROM-Arpechim Pitesti (Romania), with the participation of IPIP Designer company- Ploiesti (Romania) and partly in Honeywell office in Sofia (Bulgaria) for Honeywell DCS systems and Honeywell Safety Systems office in Mannheim (Germany) for ESD/PLC systems and respectively at Emerson SAAB-Rosemount office in Gothenburg (Sweden) for the Radar Tank Gauging system as well as at Econosto Headquarter from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) for the motorized valves control in the tank farm area. Leading and managing the process of scope definition and change control for automation project works, including technical estimations and cost evaluations/scope variations, technical moderator in following the projects status meetings, technical support in performing Risk Assesment for SIL classification based on OMV SEVESO II Standard and IEC 61508/61511, technical advisor and support in control philosophy and configuration of the project database, technical assistance for the other project positions as far as specialist aspects are concerned. Executing FAT activities, Construction Supervision (technical site management, supervise of mounting, testing of the field instruments), Transfer and Commissioning Preparation (coordinated for the execution loop by loop procedure), Commissioning Services Supervision, SAT activities and post-work project implementations based on process needs (coordinated hand-over and take-over automation activities). The ABB MOD 300 is still running now and it serves to control The MTBE Plant of ARPECHIM Pitesti Company. The Engineering Services (e.g. project organization, hardware and software design, configuration of the project database, process graphics, environment, history, reports and so on) were realized by myself under supervision of the German technical support. Elaborating the project engineering database software as well as hardware and software configuration design, by using ABB MOD 300 software packages of ABB MOD 300 Distributed Control System. Successful implementation of the project was done in such manner to serve the proven concepts for Project Management. This project has served to the newest plant of Refinery called Etherification Plant and it was an extension of The MTBE project.
