Degree Qualified Industrial Chemist based in the Energy Sector.
Initiated career in technical works and projects with Baker Hughes in the oil and gas sector, covering most aspects of engineered and chemical treatment solutions utilised in the refining operation at various refineries within the UK and Europe. Progressing later into the energy (generation) with SSE - dealing with all major aspects of water, chemical and fuel management and including plant and environmental requirements regarding air and effluent emissions.
Throughout this career, successful delivery of projects have been achieved aquiring key knowledge of various industrial processes and contract management. Legislative and some commercial experience has been achieved with exposure to EUETS, IPPC, Environmental permits.

SSE (Station Production and Environmental Chemist)

SLOUGH HEAT AND POWER STATION, BERKSHIRE (BIOMASS)

(SSE is a major producer, distributor and retailer of electricity and gas in the UK market)

Reporting to Process Support Manager – Generation, Thermal Feb 2010 – to Date

Key Responsibilities

• Management of Plant Chemistry: Combustion, Fuel, Water Treatment, Boiler Water and Cooling Water Chemistry.

• Management of Plant Environmental Obligations: Emissions, Effluent, and Waste.

• Development of improvement measures in water and energy efficiency.

• Ensuring Compliance with IPPC, ISO 14001 and all Environmental Legislative Requirements in all activities.

• Responsible for emissions data and reporting communication with Environmental Agency.

• Ensuring Compliance with EUETS (Emission Trading Scheme).

• Maintain legal requirements of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and Waterborne Pathogens (Legionella).
