Experience

Nov 12 – Feb 14
QSHE Manager, Hunter Demolition

I was responsible to the Operations Director for all Quality, Health, Safety and Environment. In 2012-2013 I achieved transfer of existing 9001 certification to BSI and full accreditation to requirements of EN ISO14001 & 18001. This was a fantastic achievement from a personal perspective in that I have taken the company in a very short time, from a part time safety consultant with basic safety manuals, to a fully-fledged and accredited integrated QSHE management system and a full time safety professional. I also completed entry into the ROSPA safety awards for 2014 and achieved a “Gold Award” for the company.

I implemented and educated employees on the benefits of a behavioral based safety culture, and in turn set the company along the continual improvement track which should allow them to win projects that the company otherwise would not have been able to tender for. I manage the day to day QHSE function, develop policies and procedures and maintain the management system both on a shared drive and web-based system. I produce various statistics, QSHE alerts, chair the safety forum meetings and produce a monthly board report. I also carry out audits and inspections to ensure the company remains compliant with the requirements of both legislative/standards industry best practice and client requirements. I have managed the QSHE function within many different environments including high risk industries including: Nuclear, petrochemical, oil & gas and petroleum. And various standard demolition projects such as schools, factories and housing. I also carried out various training courses on relevant safety/environmental issues.

Demolition I reported to the Managing Director on aspects associated with Health, Safety and Environment within the demolition industry. I carried out Site inspections and audits, accident investigation and reporting, health and safety training, provided advice to management and employees on all health & safety issues, site environmental issues, equipment trials, risk assessments, liaison with Health & Safety Executive and responsibility for the Company’s accident, site inspection and near miss management system. Worked within high risk industries such as petrochemical, chemical and oil & gas environments, successfully gained accreditation to Achilles UVDB, FPAL & Link-up and have maintained the PAS 99, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 integrated management system through several successful audits carried out by BSi.
