Joined a QA/QC firm inside DAELIM (Korean Contractor) for Phase12-South Pars Gas Refinery development project, a Consortium of DAELIM (Korea), SAZEH, KAYSON & IIND Co.  The whole plant was built in 3 different EPC contracts, EPC1, EPC2 and EPC3. I worked within scope of EPC2. We are in Pre-Cast Concrete Structures-Erection stage. Our major QA/QC activity is to perform Inspection using RFI/FIN (Request for Inspection/Field Inspection Notice) and our Civil ITP for this stage includes grouting Inspection for each column, chipping, cleaning, grouting, verification of cube strength of grout, and I get subcontractor to fill up Formats like fresh concrete and compressive strength test etc.

Develop and maintain ITP tracker based on Work Breakdown structure (WBS) using multidiscipline QA/QC expertise. Then most recently, the piping fabrication just began, the welding school at site is now operating to qualify welders and we have also automatic welding machines at piping shop gets operated by a Korean sub contractor. There is also a shop for slag copper blasting and coating / wrapping pipes which I also supervise that one as a part of scope.

Achievements:

Got familiar with culture of Korean companies. (i.e. daily exercise at site). Studied a full 72 pages Civil Inspection and Test Plan (from Site Filling, Earthwork,Foundations,Concrete, steel structure, road works, including Pre-Cast Concrete Structures-Erection works) with more than 30 forms and checklists which increased my civil knowledge beside existing Mechanical experties, And based on that I can administrate the whole Quality system in Civil as well as I could in Mechanical disciplines.

Involved in ISO establishment. Assist Engineering team with some cathodic protection design calculations.

Achievements:

Since the company was about to achieve certificate in Quality System, I could increased my ISO9001 and Internal / External Auditing skills to audit an organization as good as a IRCA certified lead Auditor in EPC projects particularly in Design Verification and Document / Record control. Working in a wellhead project proposal preparation, was a good chance to review the MATERIALS SELECTION Principles for corrosion protection related to the offshore equipment e.g: wellhead components and other similar subsea items like X-mas trees, subsea manifolds and got familiar with their design principles. Have a good understanding of corrosivity evaluations in hydrocarbon systems. Have experience/ Familiar with in materials like low temperature carbon steels , low alloy steels, Martensitic/Austenitic/Duplex stainless steel, Nickel base alloys (i.e. Alloy 625). Familiar with vessel material selection principles in offshore topside oil separation and gas treating systems based on the corrosivity criteria either in whole CRAs, internally CRA clad or weld overlayed Resulting a job application and 2-3 hours telephone interview with FMC Technologies in Singapore for QA/QC Inspection Engineer role.

Working first (1) in CCC office in procurement department to coordinate and manage overall Inspection activities and Inspection plans for all the Commodities to be procured and shipped to the site for Ras Laffan Port Expansion Project (RLPEP) for QATAR PETROLEUM. It was a mega project valued more than 1.8 billion Dollars. Review ITP’s submitted by vendors, worked with ITP tracker. Conduct and coordinate procurement quality surveillance to BS EN ISO 10204, review Vendor QA documents and Liaise with client for the approval of the ITP and QA QC documents/procedures, review Inspection Reports, Notify Inspection, Assign Inspection to the third party (VELOSI), even do inspection occasionally and release goods (Release notes), then (2) shifted to site in Qatar to work closely with Commissioning Team to prepare pre-commissioning and commissioning Dossiers for many sub-systems/systems, Schedule and liaise to get vendor representative to site for commissioning activities. Worked closely with vendors to prepare SPIR (spare parts interchangeability record) for many mechanical and even electrical equipment at site like pumps, HVAC systems, Fire and gas alarm system, potable water tanks, BAEMS (Building automated energy management system) etc. and send them to be uploaded to SAP and other kind of computerized Maintenance Management Systems. In procurement quality surveillance, dealt with concretes with super duplex reinforcement. (inspection of super duplex rebar material, material certificate review)

Achievements:

Coordinated more than 300 site/workshop inspection globally including pre-inspection meetings, worked closely with commissioning team to prepare more than 250 dossiers correspondence to sub system-systems at RLPEP capital project. Co-ordinate with more than 50 vendors / suppliers for their site service during commissioning. Co-ordinate 6 major training programs to be conducted for major equipment for Client’s staff. Became an Expert in different kind of document control softwares (like VBC) usually used in documentation of Capital Projects. Developed a small program and extracted so many spreadsheets for outstanding (non AFC) vendor documents and expedite them from the vendors.

Working in Corrosion Remediation Project (CRP), in Newmont Mining Operation, at Batu Hijau Copper-Gold mine, Sumbawa INDONESIA.  (Fly in Fly out) Main Activity in the role was performing site inspection in mine facilities in entire corrosion remediation project from any welding and mechanical work to all of the Sandblast and Coating, also Corporate to prepare quality procedures and manuals, ITP, KPI, monitor subcontractors, equipment integrity assessment etc.  Newmont is a well known North American mining corporation has mines operating in SE Asia as well. And there are lots of employees working there as expatriates either in Fly in fly out or residential. For certain period of time they couldn’t fill the position by locals, so I joined there until government pushed to nationalize this position.

Achievements:

Have done so many site/workshop inspections successfully, and reported them to Newmont mining authorities regarding the performance of contractor in terms of Quality and even Quantity.  Supervised contractor’s work quality in Remediation of steel structure, pebble crusher, conveyors, fuel pipeline, and concentrate pipeline from the facility to the port. Become an Expert in protective coating process, in sandblast and surface preparation stage and its associated equipment and quality inspection. Then Painting stage, its equipment, mixing and applying and associated Quality and even HSE inspection. Worked closely with Singaporean contractor to close out couple of NCR. Achieved good experience in integrity assessment. Well exposed to the design principles and application of coating systems designed for splash zones with ultra-high film thicknesses  (even though it was a mine site and not an offshore job, but there was still wet/dry condition in floatation system of the mine site)

Achievements:

Oversee the workmanship of more than 15 Welders. Fitters, blaster and painters in a workshop in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, prepared more than 70 MDR’s (Manufacturer Data Report) for each Gantry being fabricated and used in EAST Link highway in Melbourne. (Client was Thiess John Holland). Prepared couple of major MDRs for jobs related to Woodside Energy. And Gasco pty Ltd.     Prepared about 10 new welding procedures (WPS) and get them qualified under NATA labs.

Reporting to operational manager.. Specpipe was piping fabrication company in particular and specialized materials like stainless, or Chromium-Molybdenum (P11 to P22) .and I was on contract responsible to make sure the welding and fabrication jobs  being  done as per specification of clients particularly for those Chromium molybdenum (P11, P22) materials..  I was working in office in BlackTown Sydney but I also visited couple of different sites. for different project like a piping process site for blue scope steel (steel manufacturer in Australia)..I was involved also in some small scale projects for Atlas Copco ,  responsible for preparing outstanding MDR (manufacturer data report), ensuring the quality issues for welding and piping fabrication got sorted, coordination of NDT (non destructive testing),   and sometimes I did purchasing and procurement as well, the company was under liquidation so I was involved to estimate materials and stock level..

Achievements:

Prepared and submitted more than 35 MDRs in   Provide some technical support for fabrication workshop manager.

Supervised 8 fitter/welders (3 Germans, 3 Australian, and 1 Korean, 1 Chinese). Provided technical support for job estimators.

Got quotation and placed more than 25 Purchase Orders to major steel suppliers of Australia like Onesteel, Smorgon steel, and some fitting suppliers like Prochem and SANDVIC.

Project 1: Performed third party inspection for construction of carbon and stainless steel pressure vessels for Marun Petrochemical complex onshore facility. (Review of Mill Test Certificates, Welder Performance Test (WPT), Witness of welding, Fit up, NDT, hydrostatic test, Acid pickling painting, packing and shipping).

Project included more than 2 million Inch diameter welded piping, and several storage Tanks including double layer storage thanks with Perlite insulation.

Project 2: Cathodic protection in piping network, steel structure, Boilers and tanks in second phase of Urea Ammonia petrochemical plant in southern part of Iran. Performing documentation which is equally important in inspection activities for the entire mechanical fabrication.

Project 3:

-Resident third party site inspector for hydrostatic and performance test of equipments and piping system in Jam Petrochemical complex which is an onshore facility in South Pars Gas Field.

-Client Third party Inspector for industrial valves (review of material certificate, painting, packing and shipping inspection).

-Client Third party Inspector for construction of PE pipes (underground piping system) witness of mechanical test on metallurgical laboratory. 

Well Experienced with terms like third party inspection and third party certification. (TPI/TPC)

Achievements:

Just as a single achievement, worked with Shell approved materials and safety data sheets for some items dealt in above projects in petrochemical plants. Became well familiar with the shell approved conditions and procedures in NDT/NDE techniques when Radiography Test (RT) could have been or even had to be replace by Ultrasonic Test (UT).
