Career Summary

January 2014 – December 2014
CAMBRIDGE EXPRESSWAY – NEW ZEALAND Contract value $140,000,000.00 NZD

Title: Zone Engineer (Zone 1)

This was a short term 3 month contract (January – April) to establish the zones structure and mentor the junior engineers. At the completion of my three months I was asked if I would remain until the end of 2014.

Direct Responsibilities:

Zone Engineer in charge of all aspects of the first 6.4km’s of a dual expressway. My role involves planning and controlling all of the onsite day to day activities, managing company employees and sub-contractors, set out, project QA, environmental management, safety, traffic control and programming both detailed and overview level.

Zone 1 consists of 6.4km’s of dual carriageway (North & South) on SH1 the main New Zealand state highway and 3.6km’s of local roads including infrastructure. The first 4.2km’s of the dual carriageway involves extensive work in and around the existing operational highway. Scope includes bulk earthworks, preload construction and monitoring for bridges and MSE abutment walls, drainage, pavement construction, surfacing, landscaping, MSE walls and two bridges one built with precast super T beams and topping slab and the other is a steel and concrete construction bridge.

OCTOBER 2013 – DECEMBER 2013
AHAFO MILL EXPANSION PROJECT – GHANA Contract value $580,000,000.00 USD

Title: Newmont Construction Manager

My role as the Newmont Construction Manager was to organize and complete all of the early works including site establishment, tie ins to existing services, preliminary earthworks, construction of laydowns, 1st stage fencing etc. Then the intention was to integrate me into the EPCM construction team to work alongside the EPCM Construction Manager once they established on site to help generate a true “salt & pepper” organization that has the best interests of the project and the client at heart ensuring that program and budget are met without jeopardizing safety or quality.

The project has a 3 – 4 year build period dependent upon which option the board decide to run with, line2 only or line 2 plus 2X+ but unfortunately due to economic reasons Newmont has put the project on hold for a minimum of 12 months starting 31 December 2013 which has resulted in my redundancy.
