To try and allow the operations to run smoothly it required building a close relationship with the British Embassy and Tunisian Government.

Work Experience

June 2011 – Present Installation Manager/Field Manager Chergui Gas Processing Facility

Kerkennah Island, Off Sfax, Tunisia

Reporting directly to the Asset Manager, with responsibility for the day-to-day production and maintenance activities with autonomous decision making concerning the health and welfare of all site based personnel and the safe utilisation of plant and equipment. This includes the completion of daily and weekly reports to indicate site production records and maintenance issues, instruct and lead by example the use of auditing tools, e.g. STOP (Safety Training Observation Programme), Maintenance Integrity Audits and PTW Audits.

My current duties are as undernoted, but not limited to:

• Delivering monthly reports to London via the Asset Integrity Review Board meetings

• Dealing with Tunisian authorities to ensure correct gas export figures, costs/budgets (KPI’s) are reached.

• Responsible for 4 remote as wells which tie in to the CPF and a metering station on the Tunisian mainland just outside of Sfax that has our fiscal metering units.

• Ensuring the contractual companies that we utilise are fully aware of our operations and understand our safety procedures and culture. Oversee all aspects of our operation which includes all well activities from the drilling of the new wells to final completion and well handovers with all documentation, involvement with Risk Assessments before well operations and work-over and acid washes.

• Ensuring safe, efficient, cost effective production during a period of change as the new wells start to flow and change our operational parameters.

• Provide leadership and direction to the Tunisia workforce, ensuring the site management team, who report directly to me, are able to carry out the tasks and duties as per the Petrofac procedures. Also to ensure they keep their deputes updated with any changes.

• Owner of the CPF HSEQ Plan.

• Enforcement of all statutory and company (Petrofac’s) safety related procedures affecting operations and maintenance.

• Supervision of Company Safety Management System.

• Prioritising and progressing action items raised under any survey/audits in conjunction n with the Technical Authority support group as necessary, ensure that any changes made are captured under the MOC procedure.

• Manage and control the site Synergy reporting process.

• Chairing weekly safety meetings and delivering ‘Lessons Learned’ information from the company bulletins.

• Organising weekly safety musters, drills and exercise, ensuring ER preparedness.

• Ensure that the ER Team is training and fully converse with all our safety drills and safety equipment onsite in line with the nearly HSEQ plan.

• Preparing and monitoring a complete training matrix for local personnel in line with company corporate requirements. Introduced and implementing the company CPP program to all personnel.

• Responsible for all day to day HR activities and issues, ensuring we always have a complete competent crew at site at all times.

SUMMARY

To try and allow the operations to run smoothly it required building a close relationship with the British Embassy and Tunisian Government officials.

I have maintained an excellent Lost Time Incident record on site during my capacity as Installation Manager/Field Manager which has resulted in over 1 Million safe worked man hours. I have moved the installation to a more safety orientated and conscious environment, and introduced a new permit to work system with fully trained ISSOW supervisors. The understanding of Risk Assessments and Operational Risk assessments are now fully in place.

We have a fully trained Emergency Response Team with trained Team Leaders, and all the operational control room staff are trained in the Emergency Response Initial Actions which I introduced. This was undertaken at Petrofac Training in Montrose and all training programmes, visas and travel arrangements were organised from site.

With all the changes and challenges faced I have managed to maintain the required production targets for this year with continuous effort to improve production and efficiency.

2003 – June 2011 Maintenance Supervisor/Depute OIM- Kittiwake Platform

Responsible for the supervision of maintenance crew, (instruments, mechanical, electrical and TMG), and also deck crew (scaffolders, riggers and stores).

I was responsible for planning and work scheduling to ensure that PMR’s were up to date and working towards zero backlog on PM’s and PMA’s, working in close conjunction with Operations Supervisor to allow the Kittiwake to reach its set KPI’s.

One of the main responsibilities was to ensure that the Kittiwake Loading Buoy (offloading to tankers) was maintained and the equipment was to a standard to prevent any loss of containment and sea contamination. Tight control and scheduling of tanker movement had to be managed to prevent any plant shutdown.

As Maintenance Supervisor/OIM I encouraged safe working practice in all personnel which included vendors and visitors. I conducted the role of Fire Team Leader/On-scene Commander during emergencies and training scenarios, both involving the platform staff and external professional personnel (Coastguard and oil spill teams as required).

Fully responsible for ensuring that all paperwork required was completed to Petrofac standards to comply with both Health & Safety and the BMS. Continually assessed maintenance team’s CPP in order that we continued to strive and have a fully competent workforce.

SUMMARY

The Kittiwake has moved from a stop-start platform with a large uncontrolled maintenance backlog to a steady 24/7 producing platform. We had a steady maintenance/operation team who achieved and maintained a high level of competency. This in itself shows that I helped to develop and change attitudes.

1993 – 2003 Senior Instrument Technician– Kittiwake (Halliburton)

Senior Instrument Technician (CIP) on Shell Expro Kittiwake platform. My main duties were to plan and achieve monthly routine compliance for the instrument department. The areas of work scope involved in this were:

• Fire & Gas Detection Systems (Wormald)

• Fiscal Metering of all Export Gas and Oil to DTI Standards

• Day to day repairs of process faults and breakdowns

• Non routine and operational assistance when need

I was also responsible for man management, vendor assistance and specialised material ordering, raising Shell permits.

1996 – 1999 Senior Maintenance/Operations Technical Officer (Alliance Marine Services) – F.P.S.O. Jamestown – Angola

Working for Alliance Marine Services sub contracted to Chevron on a 20 week on/off cycle where the responsibilities required the supervision and training of all operators, national Angolans and Filipinos. Training incorporated both process maintenance, learning and understanding Chevron standards and procedures. The day to day requirements involved liaising with Production Superintendent, planned maintenance repairs and process design changes required to keep production flowing. Outwith the process the other ships systems required maintenance, Gas Detection, Hamworthy Tri-fuel boiler control and ships chain mooring system.

1993 – 1996 Piper Bravo – AOC – Senior Commissioning Technician

Commissioned the Fire & Gas ESD safety system, which involved all paperwork and function tests. On completion all systems were witnessed by Lloyds. This was carried out on the Piper ‘B’ platform, the operators being ELF.

Senior Commissioning Technician – Amlaird Water Treatment Plant

Commissioned all instruments rom reservoir to final water export, from field instrumentation through to ‘SCADA’ control system, on completion and final handover to Strathclyde Regional Council. All documentation was signed and witnessed.

Southmoor House, Eaglesham & Neilson Water Treatment Plants – John Brown Engineering

Responsible for supervision of maintenance staff, including pipefitters and electricians in construction stage of above three water treatment plants, incorporating glass lined filters to 1the sludge building and final drinkable export water. Positioning and terminating all instruments and motor drives being the main phase of the programme before moving on to loop checks to final commissioning.

1991 – 1993 Operations/Instrument Technician – Dietsman – Texaco – Angola

I worked directly for the Senior Production Manager, both on-shore and off-shore, whilst employed by Dietsman based in Angola on a 28/28 cycle, spending time both on-shore at the holding/processing plant and off-shore, which involved carrying out routine PMR;s on both the platform and satellite unmanned platforms (wellheads). I was responsible for maintenance of all equipment necessary to keep the field operating satisfactorily. I also had responsibility for supervision and training of Nationals (Angolans) in instrumentation and plant maintenance.

Instrument Technician (off-shore)

I spent this period working off-shore in the North Sea on both hook-up and maintenance projects on various platforms.

1983 – 1988 Instrument Technician – South of Scotland Electricity Board

On completion of my apprenticeship I worked at Hunterston Nuclear Power Station as part of shift cycle maintenance team, employed to maintain all instrumentation aspects of a nuclear power station.
