Manifa Core Hydro Carbon Project Management Team

Manifa Crude Processing Facilities is project on production phase ramping up to ultimately produce 900,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Arabian Heavy crude oil, 90 million standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of sour gas, and 65,000 bpd of hydrocarbon condensate.

I am currently working for the project management team (PMT) which is responsible for executing Saudi Aramco’s capital program as part of the engineering services and project management. My area of responsibility involves electrical construction; pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of the GOSP; Gas Gathering plant; Flare Gas and Substations. The approximate total project cost is US$ 10 Billion including offshore and onshore installations.

Period Employed December 2011 to Date

Area of Responsibilities includes:

-hands-on experience on low and medium voltage power systems design; pre-comissioning and commissioning; Rotating Equipment

-Support several areas/units of major construction work, monitoring all phases of field construction, ensuring work is executed in a timely manner, in accordance with design, quality and schedule as per Saudi Aramco Engieneering Standards (SAES) and Inspection Procedures, National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and IEC

-Hazardous area equipment classification and checking for compliance on material received on site as per Equipment label

-Supporting Maintenace Engineers during the Warranty period and out of warranty; creating the Spare parts list and Invertory Management

-Providing Support for the Start of Synchronous machines for Compressor of 12000kW 13.8KV Motors; with brushless excitation

– Check and monitor the completion of construction; witness and verify that necessary test and inspections are performed and completed by the contractor; witness and verify that pre-commissioning and commissioning activities as per Saudi Aramco Testing and Inspection Procedures (SATIP).

– Control of scheduling, development of construction methods, accountability for progress, utilization of manpower, physical inspection of workmanship for compliance with plans and specifications.

-Coordinating with Facilities end user (proponent) to get approval for all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

-Preparing weekly schedule, attending weekly meetings with contractor and sub-contractors for progress update and Technical queries.

-Revising and updating the vendor Schematic and SEL/MM300 Relay logic drawings as per Field changes. Tackling any issues related to the GE switchgear and Motor Control centers.

-Troubleshooting and providing Support for UPS and Battery Chargers (CEG and Gutor Systems)

-Co-coordinating and arranging Vendor site visits and scheduling for the involved parties (witnesses) to be present for their activities

-Performing RCA; FMEA and Management of Change processes

-Verifying the readiness; execution and documentation for Energization; solo runs and load run for all the equipment.

Upgrade of the Power reticulation at Soccer City Nasrec .Project value at ZAR 15 Million, the project was run for a period of a year and completed within time and budget.

4. Phakalane and AK06 Substations in Botswana

EPCM on Substation Automation System for Phakalane 132//11 kV and AK06 132//11kV Substations in Botswana using the ABB RTUs and ABB MicroSCADA. Project values of ZAR 1.5 Million

5. RTU SCADA Gateways for EThekwini Metro Distribution Substations: Durban South Africa

Full IEC61850 implementation for about 250 number 11kV distribution substations for EThekwini Metro in Durban. DNP3.0 serial and DNP WAN for remote communication to the Control Centre. Project value estimated ZAR 11million.The projects was delivered on time; within budget and great profit margins.
