RESEARCH PROJECT DETAILS SCOPE OF WORK

Mechanical and Tribological Characterization of Aluminum-Silicon Alloys Cast by Gravity Casting and Centrifugal Casting Routes. Different aluminum silicon alloy is cast at different speeds of mold rotation. Microstructure is examined for all the specimens. The Rockwell hardness test is conducted to measure the macro hardness. Tribological pin on disk wear sliding test is required to conduct study on Specific wear rate (SWR) of the alloy.

Circularity and Dimensional Accuracy of Laser Sintered Parts at Different Positions on the Base Plate. Circularity and dimensional accuracy of laser-sintered parts produced at different positions on the base plate are measured. It is found that the position of part on the base plate has a great influence on the circularity and dimensional accuracy of the built parts.

Simulation of Heat Transfer in Fins Theoretically analyzing the combined conduction and convective mode of heat transfer in fins and to simulate the same in finite element analysis package ANSYS
