Leukaemia Bone Marrow Transplant department of VGH is a world renowned center for BMT.
I am actively involved in diagnosis, day to day management of indoor and outdoor patients with haematological malignancies and those undergoing or have undergone bone marrow transplant. (BMT)
This includes rotation postings in indoor wards, outdoor departments, BMT day care and aphaeresis unit. The duties incorporates day, night and week end duties to attend BMT patients including those who report in emergency department, too.

Junior resident I, II and III

Junior resident I from 15th June 2006 till 30th April 2007. Nature of work included assessment, diagnosis, management of outdoor and indoor patients with General Medicine . It also included management of medical emergencies, performing diagnostic/ therapeutic procedures like central venous line insertion, lumbar puncture, pleural/ pericardial/ ascites tapping, bone marrow aspiration, liver/ kidney/ pleural biopsy, and interventions such as mechanical ventilation, tube thoracostomy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, temporary pacing etc

Junior resident II from 1st May 2007 to 30th April 2008. Duties included Outpatients/inpatients care, rotation (six months to one year) in existing allied specialities such as Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Haematology, MICU. Junior resident III from 1st May 2008 till 30th April 2008. During this term, the allocated duties were out-patients and in-patients care, independent management of emergencies, teaching junior Residents / under-graduate students enrolled in the subject.

This was followed by examination and declaration of results on 16th July 2009.

• Won the ‘Padmashree V.Vikhe Patil Scholarship and Gold Medal’ for outstanding performance in all 3 M.B.B.S. years.
• Won the ‘B-BRAUNS medical scholarship’ awarded to 4 students in Internal Medicine all over India.( July 2008)
• Won the ‘Best Poster Award’ at Bombay Medical Congress poster presentation competition during 3rd year of MD residency.(April 2009)
• Awarded fellowship grant of Indian Society of Hematology & Blood Transfusion (ISHBT) for the poster presentation in annual conference HEMATCON-2012 (Nov 2012)
• Stood 1st in college in all 3 years during M.B.B.S.
• Ranked 4th in Maharashtra university of Health sciences(MUHS) in Final M.B.B.S.
