Short Bio:

I completed a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship in 2006 at BAE Systems shipbuilding in Glasgow, I then qualified as mechanical commissioning engineer in 2009 still at BAE Systems. I left BAE and began working offshore as Hydraulics technician at beginning of 2011 for Enermech, I continued to work for them for around 18 months where I picked up a good knowledge of Hydraulic systems. I left Enermech too work for Archerwell as a Mechanical Fitter offshore on there Rebuild programme of the drilling package.

Career Summary

Mechanical Technician/Fitter Jul 2013 – Oct 2013 Archerwell

Working on the Brent Charlie on the drilling side rebuild programme. My duties included removing everything from pumps, motors, agitator valves, pipework, butterfly valves then stripping the equipment down to be either scrapped and replaced with new equipment or refurbished and refitted.

Hydraulic Technician Jan 2011-Jul 2013 Enermech

I worked for the hydraulics department which includes working on different jobs from :-

• Hydraulic System Flushing and installation

• Chemical Cleaning services

• Pressure Testing

• Offshore Mechanical Services

• The safe operation, maintenance and repair of HPU’s

• Read and understand P&ID’s prior to commencement of job

Some of the offshore installations/ sites worked on:

Borgsten Dolphin: Overhauling of rig anchor winches, replacing of dog clutches, replacing of load cells, non-destructive testing of gear box shafts, service test & commissioning of hydraulic ram after gear box re-fit.

Bleo Holm FPSO: Chemical clean flush of chilled water system, Including dismantling and

re-instatement of supply and return lines to facilitate same.

Galaxy 1: Refurbishment of rig jacking system, including removal and re-fitting of pedestal

Jack gearboxes, freeing main pedestal jacks. Replacement of retracting systems.

Refurbishment of HPU and supply lines.

Triton FPSO: Hydraulic hose inspection and maintenance. An inspection of all hoses for

damage, wear and tear was carried out on all systems and cranes with unsuitable

hoses being replaced with new ones.

Fife Ethylene Plant: Flushing of lube, seal and control oil systems, Including dismantling and

re-instatement of supply and return lines to facilitate same.

Some other installations/vessels/sites worked on include – Nexen Scott, the Murchison, Tern Alpha, Curlew, the Schiehallion, Site Lamprell (Dubai) Upper Zakum Platform (Abu Dhabi).
